Because
* either it's the native resolution of the monitor.
* or/and monitor belongs to bigger ones (ie 40"). In this case, scaling dpi using system settings a bit up, you can achieve more workspace with a balanced size of the items.

Modular is unusable even in 1080. Should I switch to 640*480 ?beely wrote: Thu Jan 02, 2025 3:31 pmI never understand why people set their resolutions to native 4K, where everything becomes pretty tiny, then start scaling their system/all their software up individually to make it useable, and then find there are software that doesn't scale well or at all making it unusable, when they could just set a resolution less high, have the same size monitor, don't have to scale anything, and the things that don't scale are also at a perfectly useable size.Gam456 wrote: Thu Jan 02, 2025 3:23 pm Like i said when it's unusable. UI is so small on a 4k monitor.
I run a 4K 27" inch monitor, but I'm generally running at 2560x1440, and everything is roughly at the size I need it without having to scale anything...
Maybe running at a less than native resolution on Windows looks bad, or something?
Some dev are so bad. Softube you can scale a Model 80 at a realy nice size
But it doesn't scale the browser, page setting. Wtf ?!

No idea, I don't use Softube Modular. *Unusable* in 1080, really?Gam456 wrote: Thu Jan 02, 2025 4:23 pm Modular is unusable even in 1080. Should I switch to 640*480 ?
Which as i explained, if it doesn't make things the right size (a typical 27" 4K monitor natively will make tiny text - generally too small - at full resolution), then the simple solution is - as I do - to pick a resolution that does make things the right size, and then you don't have to do all the scaling and juggling and pain...maxym.srpl wrote: Thu Jan 02, 2025 4:15 pm Because

I think people think "it's a 4K monitor, therefore I *have* to run it at 4K, even though it makes things way too small so I have to individually scale all my plugins and stuff up and some doesn't scale at all so I have to live with those being unusably tiny"...
Sure, with a bigger monitor, then native 4K won't be so tiny, and again, as per above, this brings the interface into the generally usable area without having to individually scale software all the time. That would be a more acceptable resolution to run on those size monitors - which is what it's all about - running the system in the range of usability without having to jump through hoops scaling plugins individually because they're way to small, or too big etc.maxym.srpl wrote: Thu Jan 02, 2025 4:15 pm* or/and monitor belongs to bigger ones (ie 40"). Anyway - sorry, off topic - moving back on...

I'm grateful that on Mac, this is handled for us. We don't ever have to think about it. Actual resolution is always native, and the "resolution" you set is virtual, which in effect is an automatic UI scaling factor. This allows hi-res graphics to use the resolution that is there, without messing up the UI of everything else. (Granted, you can force none-HiDPI modes if you want to, but few do.)beely wrote: Thu Jan 02, 2025 3:31 pm I never understand why people set their resolutions to native 4K, where everything becomes pretty tiny, then start scaling their system/all their software up individually to make it useable, and then find there are software that doesn't scale well or at all making it unusable, when they could just set a resolution less high, have the same size monitor, don't have to scale anything, and the things that don't scale are also at a perfectly useable size.
In Windows HiDPI modes, this mostly works the same way, but YMMV depending on the software. Older software is not HiDPI-aware, and scales poorly.
On Linux - forget it. It's an absolute mess. If you use only very specific software with specific DEs and specific themes, you can pull it off, and it mostly works, with a ton of text file diving and tweaking, until it doesn't.

Yeah nice sounding filters. Cool controller for direct tactile operation.
Besides of that this gives me almost zero "wanna have".
Not any sounds in there that I couldn't get out of some good VSTis in a way that satisfy me.

I definitely like your fresh and "punk" approach to that machine.hey212 wrote: Thu Jan 02, 2025 11:30 pm Oh ya, it's just a fun video that's not yet another Blade Runner demo. Def not a comprehensive example of everything it can do.
And thank you for not playing the Blade Runner in that video.

And of course, I can start a sentence with 'and' if I want to.seafire wrote: Wed Dec 18, 2024 6:42 am "THERE ARE THINGS DONE. AND THERE ARE THINGS DONE RIGHT"
Starting a sentence with 'and' isn't one of them.

Synth Devs get one chance to make a splash with a new product.martiu wrote: Sun Dec 29, 2024 8:21 am why the secrecy, deleting videos and stuff, it is just some software synth![]()
Most sales occur in a peak around launch time, as with computer games and movies.
It's fair enough they want their marketing well coordinated with the launch.

Arturias sounds great, but yeah the UI is to literally copied from the synth. It would be fine hands on, but on a computer UI needed some kind of of reproportioning.kraster wrote: Mon Dec 30, 2024 3:14 am Arturia's and Cherry Audio's versions are overwhelming and fiddly.
Sounds great though, and I'd it's good enough for my friends Weval then it's probably good enough for anyone.

Probably going to messa up some peoples' lives, and their kids', but in 2025, CS80 is pretty overrated. It can only be nostalgia, because it doesn't sound THAT good
