2024 Hardware Synth of the Year

For synth DI, I really like the Phoenix Nice DI. Transformer balanced and high operating voltage for high headroom/low distortion. Super clean but they can be driven for some subtle, low order harmonics. I keep my Prophet 6 permanently connected through a Dual Nice DI.
Synths drive transformers really nicely, IMO.

Sometimes I’ll use an old Groove Tubes tube DI or a channel of my UA 2-610.

I don’t use my 1073 channels for synths or drum machines as frequently but they do sound great for that, particularly when I want to add some vintage character.

If you want to add more dramatic character to a synth’s tone, Analog Heat is great. I can also recommend Elysia’s Karacter. I’ve heard a lot of good things about Oto’s Boum as well.

I don't own one yet, but it looks and sounds great.

Still waiting for more reviews though!
