I rest my case. You should get a hobby.

Earthless, then.

It feels less like the mashups of 20 years ago and more like playing with individual elements of songs?VariKusBrainZ wrote: Tue Jan 14, 2025 1:18 pm You guys only just discovered this phenomenon in 2025 !!!
In any case it's just an update of someone like Steinski

Gah. I may actually have that, and have definitely heard it, so clearly not being quite as original and witty as I thought I was.

In fact they are actually on YouTube. Hooray(?) for ignoring copyright!
The first one was done for a Tommy Boy competition for remixing a TB tune, but they got carried away

No, I can't even tell who it is or what they are playing.

Yes but it still can't separate a simple drum loop. I know because I tried at least 6 different stem separators yesterday.

Just out… Stem separation just for drums ReBeat from WaveMachine Labs. Unfortunately it costs $199 which is waaaaaayyyyyy too expensive. Shame!osiris wrote: Thu Jan 16, 2025 2:00 pm Yes but it still can't separate a simple drum loop. I know because I tried at least 6 different stem separators yesterday.

If you haven't done so yet, go get Demucs Guiosiris wrote: Thu Jan 16, 2025 2:00 pm Yes but it still can't separate a simple drum loop. I know because I tried at least 6 different stem separators yesterday.

Once in the program, if you're on Windows (i think it comes pre-installed on useless Mac), choose the model that has the same name as the original model that loads by default (first model) but has the number 6 on it. I could be off with this I'm not near my DAW system atm but basically it's the model that allows six different stem.separations.
Once you get (download) this model, go to the mixer section and see if that helps with separating drum loops.
I just finished my 1st mash-up and holy shit, this is not easy at all. I thought it would be a no brainer process but this is quite challenging and can be fun if one has the patience.
I'd share my mash-up but that's a whole other can of worms. Not quite legal to post up mash-ups anywhere. With Youtube it's a toss of the dice, and with Mixcloud it's a no go without copyright permissions. The latter does allow DJ mixes though with exceptions. But any AI assisted music is a no go.
