Current by Minimal Audio RTO

For anyone that initially supported Minimal Audio after their re-launch of Current via RTO, you’re now able to purchase it outright via their All Access credits. Has anyone done this yet? If so, what happened when you did? I’m curious as to what happens to the patches that have been created with All Access packs, for example, once the synth is purchased and All Access has been dropped.
Another interesting observation of their RTO is that if one subscribed as soon as Current relaunched (November 2023), your total credits would be $240 right now, but because of the way they do their RTO, it doesn’t show up that way. It’s like a month or so delayed, which is weird. I’ve inquired with MA’s support and never got a really good response for why this is.
I’m definitely not throwing shade as I like Current as a synth, but the business side of things is, as mentioned in other threads, confusing to say the least.

It seems like I've still got access to all the presets I dled during subscription. Which isn't really many but still.
Also, I should have ended up with $180 in credits and needed to pay an extra $19 to purchase Current outright- when I went to do this, my RTO had covered the full cost which was a pleasant surprise.

I jumped in on the initial offering, but cancelled after the 12 months. I did see $240 in credits, which was enough to purchase Current and a plugin I didn't have. I had to pay the difference $8 (199+49-240). All my user presets are still available, all factory presets are available, but premium packs are behind a paywall (i can try the sound).c0nsilience wrote: Sat Jan 11, 2025 11:05 am For anyone that initially supported Minimal Audio after their re-launch of Current via RTO, you’re now able to purchase it outright via their All Access credits. Save any presets from the stream packs that you really like as a new preset before canceling all access.

He's not saying to do that for everything. I don't see any harm in saving presets you like for use after your RTO is over. It would be weird if one were to do this for basically everything though.idoru97214 wrote: Tue Jan 14, 2025 11:43 pmIf thievery is your thingChanceB wrote: Tue Jan 14, 2025 11:13 pm Save any presets from the stream packs that you really like as a new preset before canceling all access.

I’m just talking about ones that have been used in a project really or maybe you modified some presets and used them in a song,I’m not talking about stealing the whole thing . If that’s wrong then I don’t see the point in using anything from the Stream or subscribing at all which I don’t,but I did buy Current which came with a free year of all access and most of the other effects including Rift,so I doubt the Minimal guys are mad that I saved a few presets that I used in my projects.swilow11 wrote: Wed Jan 15, 2025 12:09 amHe's not saying to do that for everything. Makes perfect sense to me. Tbh though, while some of the presets are interesting, I found very few that were truly useful music wise. Good for learning the synth though.
Still, I seem to have maybe 9 different sound banks available beyond the factory stuff. I didn't use these in a project, I just downloaded and still have them despite my RTO ending. That said, I don't know whether these are considered factory or not (they're not housed under factory so I'm guessing they were from the stream)

Thanks all! I’m on the fence with whether I’m going to keep All Access going or not, but I did purchase Current outright as soon as I could.

Then saving presets isn't. Crimes are defined in laws.
Maybe it would be a violation of TOS but that would be determined by a judge, if the company can demonstrate the user breached them in the first place.
Companies nowadays get away with very draconian TOS/EULA because they never go to court, but the few cases that go normally the judges rip them apart for fragrant violation of consumer protection laws.

At the early stage or discussions on minimal selling model for Current, Minimal Audio was very present in KVR and answering questions.rod_zero wrote: Sun Mar 09, 2025 1:14 amThen saving presets isn't. Crimes are defined in laws.

The question of being able to keep the presets used in song was asked and answered --> it is perfectly fine for them.
(And no I won't provide a link, if you don't trust me - which is perfectly acceptable - and you have 5 hours in front of you, you can read the original Current thread).

I think its a smart idea to keep money flowing without forcing you to a permanent subscription. You don’t need to buy sound packs with maybe only a few sounds you need for a piece of music, instead you by a month to have access to all and then just keep those you really need. I guess enough customers forget to cancel to make this model successful… Its also a bit like create your own sound pack…

That's good to know, it is also incredible users jump to argue that saving presets is a stealing, actually shows total ignorance of criminal law.Jac459 wrote: Sun Mar 09, 2025 3:52 amAt the early stage or discussions on minimal selling model for Current, Minimal Audio was very present in KVR and answering questions.rod_zero wrote: Sun Mar 09, 2025 1:14 amThen saving presets isn't.
