the JC-120 Jazz Chorus has just dropped for subscribers:
https://www.rolandcloud.com/news/introd ... azz-chorus
It's not the JX-10, it's not the JP-80x0 but, hey, at least it starts with a J. We're getting there, folks!

Looks like they are done when it comes to new instruments for now and some random samples with a gui and Effect plugins is what we can expect going forward.vulpes777 wrote: Wed Jan 15, 2025 9:56 am the JC-120 Jazz Chorus has just dropped for subscribers:

Thanks for the notification.
This actually interests me a lot..
Was my favourite amp back in the day (yes even more than Fenders) and was contemplating buying some tonex captures of it, but the ones I have heard haven't quite grabbed me.

I think Guitarists will like it, the JC-120 is a great open backed Amp
For keyboardists and synthesists it will work great in some situations but not other
Assuming it is accurate to the original the plugin version will excell is for use on electric pianos and similar tones
I have gigged 100s of gigs with one of my DX7s permanently set on the infamous Electric Piano patch and the chorus permanently engaged on a JC-120 and a bit of reverb either from a Yamaha SPX-90 or Midiverb II on the effects loop. Now that was the ultimate 1980s cheese rig
The big issue with them however is that the Highs are rolled off very sharply at around 7 - 8 Khz and being an open backed Amp they lack low end and will have nothing below 80Hz. That makes use with a lot of synthesizers rather limited
The amp itself is solid state and very very clean which is what made them so popular
I would actually buy this right now if it were not tied to RCM and an Ultimate Subscription, just to use it with Plogue OPS7 and DX7 electric piano sounds

All jokes aside, I'm not familiar with this amplifier in particular, but if it means there might be more guitar products coming along like, say, 40+ years worth of carefully modeled Boss pedals, THEN I'm interested.IvyBirds wrote: Wed Jan 15, 2025 3:36 pm I think Guitarists will like it, the JC-120 is a great open backed Amp

I’d be thrilled with Boss pedal models, actually. Especially if they recreate some of their discontinued pedals. Boss might be my favorite pedal maker.

It’s just for subscribers? I wonder if eventually it will be available for separate purchase. Maybe at the low, low price of just $199.vulpes777 wrote: Wed Jan 15, 2025 9:56 am the JC-120 Jazz Chorus has just dropped for subscribers:

There are a bunch of Boss pedals that run on the same BMC chips that are in the current line of Roland Hardware Synthsvulpes777 wrote: Wed Jan 15, 2025 6:02 pmAll jokes aside, I'm not familiar with this amplifier in particular, but if it means there might be more guitar products coming along like, say, 40+ years worth of carefully modeled Boss pedals, THEN I'm interested.IvyBirds wrote: Wed Jan 15, 2025 3:36 pm I think Guitarists will like it, the JC-120 is a great open backed Amp

That BMC emulator is at the core of every Roland Cloud piece of software
So it should be pretty easy to port the code of those pedals over to the Cloud

I know it was already mentioned but you can find the JC-120 in Software Instrument > Software Effects. If you still aren't seeing it, try hitting refresh. If this doesn't work try logging out and logging back in or uninstalling and reinstalling RCM. If all of this fails feel free to reach out through customer support or reaching out to me. I'm happy to help more and we would like to report this if it ends up being a bug.JonSolo wrote: Thu Jan 16, 2025 3:21 am I am a subscriber to Ultimate and it is nowhere to be found.
