Great day to you,

Just checking, bc it's obvious it's built on MIDI / MTC ( because of the one-way sync and ( based on ) 90's technology )

How to make a new better one ?

With maybe 2-way sync, and global song save option for saving collective project for 2 DAWs

Thank you for your input,

JuicyT

I don't think rewire was build on midi , rewire is sample accurate , midi sends it packages in series at a limited rate .
Sample accurate chords (midi note on's ) are not possible in the midi world becasue of it's serial nature (at least not in the hardware world ) , in rewire however ( note on data from host to slave ) it is possible .
Or , I could be completely wrong and it does use the old serial midi and only sends the (serial ) data once all packages are received .

It's not going to happen, as long as there is no gain in it for individual DAW developers. For them it's not a problem worth solving at all. It apparently was 25 years ago, but not any more.
We are the KVR collective. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated. Image

Probably by using the ARA2 format for 2-way sync and project save.
FL and Maschine/MPC made their whole DAW as a VST, but then it is only a slave.
Loopcloud also syncs to as a slave, via a small VST client, but then it is external.

The new version of Patchwork, along with connector, looks to be the solution. :)

Can you comment on how this might work? Specifically, my goal is to synchronize the timelines for a DAW which certain film scoring features that suit my workflow (like Studio One) with one that has other features I like but can’t sync to video (like Bitwig or Reason). Rewire was great for this ….

Thanks!

On the machine that will have the plugins that you are offboarding, you use patchwork. On the machine that you will run your DAW, you use the connector plugin.

If you are connecting two daws together, you can use connectors in one DAW, on the output of each channel, and on the inputs of channels of your other DAW. Blue Cat tools have improved sync in the version that was just released.

audiojunkie,

you seem like you might know the answer,
and my question might be related to the thread topic,

how do i synch tobybear's minihost to reaper?
by synch i mean minihost has a play button and so does reaper
how do i simulate pressing their play buttons at the same time?

the mouse cursor cannot be at two places at the same time?
if there is a freeware that can do it, i'd like to download that

i'm not even sure if minihost and reaper can both have sound at the same time
the soundcard of my windows 7 computer did not permit it, if i remember correctly
not without extra software, at least

i may be getting a windows 10 refurbished computer, to replace the windows 7 one (dead power supply unit)
