Twangstrom can sound very similar to my Wellspring or like a less noisy version of my Fostex 3180. It takes more work to get it to sound like the spring tank in one of my guitar amps but it can get there when I want it to (which is not very often).
Sorry, chiming in late, but if they got the drip right, I can make you a Tonex and/or IR capture of the electronics of my tube reverb to run after it. I'll simply wire an RCA cable in place of the tank. The Fender reverb circuit has 3 tubes and a Tweed Champ output transformer, so its electronics have a lot more impact on the sound than what's in the Fostex.

edit - now, for me, it's Valhalla.

You know, i know nobody is asking for my idle musings here, but I think it's actually less homogeneous than it used to be. Uhe is still pretty much universally admired (and deserving of it) but there's a certain "style" of developer that has become just as ubiquitous. The minimal audio, Devious Machines, Sugar Bytes, Unfiltered Audio types share a certain philosophy and use case, and practically everyone here cites at least one of them as a favorite in every discussion. It is a forum full of sound design enthusiasts after all.

Or maybe that's my confirmation bias.

Granted, Valhalla is still king of the hill here in the reverb and delay category, and generally the plugins that are considered their competitors for reverb supremacy all cost like $200

Admired ? Sorry, no. One of their synths is not bad, I like Hive, end of story. They’re fine runners-up to me. I purchased most of their synths and sold them a few months later.

And I don’t really care about Valhalla reverbs, even if I purchased most of them. They just never find any usage here. What I get with my favorite reverbs suits me better all the time. Verberate2 by Acon Digital is one of my go-to, along with Cinematic Rooms Pro from Liquidsonics.

Well you’re right in the end : it’s not homogeneous here.

What I have:
Fabfilter R2
IK CSR Hall, Inverse, Plate, Room
IK Famed Studio, Sunset Studio, and Stone Room,
Stratus
Symphony
NI-RC 24
NI-RC 48
Raum

What I use:
I was relying heavily on Stratus and Symphony.
But R2 is just so nice and easy.
I have a really fast computer, some good mics, vintage musical instruments, and lots of fancy software. Just need some talent
