Better sell 1000x for 5€ then 500x for 50€.
more users = more support, which costs money...

fewer, more discerning customers, minimises support requests.
How many users are really needing support from plugin developers however?

And most people demand more service for a 50€ plugin over a 5€ plugin

It takes the same amount of resources to keep a plugin updated for 100 users as it does for 100,000 users

I don't blame them I guess, but a lot of devs seem to forget that their customers are also having difficulty during these troubling economic times. You cant get blood from a stone...

any time in recent history can be a troubling time for many; seems irrelevant.

i imagine a developer looks at the time spent to design a plugin, the need to promote, maintain and support it, and decides what it should sell for. and then we have the option to buy... or not. simple.

And that's what I don't like, there's no middle ground I guess. They need money, I can't afford the money they want so too bad. Not even an attempt to compromise.

Of course there’s a middle ground, there will be sales for a fair prize, you just have to be patient.

a 35% sale two times per year seems reasonable to me

I've always like Ephemere buying it when it was first released. It's typical of his stuff, in that most
of the included sounds are going to be extreme. Still it's capable of much soundwise, e.g. it's
quite possible to coax some lovely ambient bells and whatnot out of it. IMO, you would want to
consider pairing it with amalgame. :tu:

"Thanks for reaching out! Yes, I finally ended my contract with PB because it wasn't possible for me to stay in business if I continued to sell our plugins for 90% off.
This is odd to me. Is he saying that the 90% discount is somehow enforced/made mandatory by PB? It's a bit weird to me that the fact that he wants to cap discounts at 35% (which is completely reasonable) can't happen while selling through pluginboutique.

Anyhow I love glitchmachine plugins, hope this works out for them.

IIRC, the dev at Audio Damage had a similar rent about PB. That makes me think that maybe the sales are forced onto smaller manufacturers.

Hmmm. That sucks. I use pluginboutique quite often and I use it as a centralised wishlist...

Maybe I should buy direct more (though I really don't like leaving my cc information at every vendor..).

Why can't we just have nice things...

They're people buying synths that e-mail support asking how to make sounds/explain filter resonance/how to modulate things/where my presets go, things that bare bones basic stuff & its not a one and done e-mail, they want to get into 3-7 email exchange, then you have all the genuine stuff on top of all that dross
