Don't expect too much. There was a movie director... I can't remember who, that started doing a dream journal, because he felt like he had these amazing ideas for movies in his dreams that he couldn't remember the next morning. One morning he woke up and scribbled in his dream journal was "boy meets girl"DJErmac wrote: Thu Jan 09, 2025 6:39 pmExcellent !!zerocrossing wrote: Thu Jan 09, 2025 6:47 am I once had a dream where I was writing an amazing song. Sometimes it happens to me very often that I write songs in my dreams. I never really tried to do anything from these melodies as they were much more enjoyable while dreaming.![]()
No, the dream ends with : this is the synth I’ve been waiting for.FranklyFlawless wrote: Thu Jan 09, 2025 6:29 am Do you recall the synthesis engine(s) used and/or any patches?
Just a dream, I know. But who knows ?
I already got excellent suggestions and have to investigate.![]()

But James Cameron wrote Terminator from a dream he made.
Terminator 1 and 2 are probably my favourite movies ever.

I have lots of very vivid dreams, all the time. Just last night I dreamt that I witnessed a passenger plane crash and it went down behind a hill and I was having a hard time figuring out how to get to it. I finally found it and helped an old woman from the wreckage. Then I started noticing that there were a ton of crazy large and alien looking bugs around, like bird grasshoppers and giant sea slugs. Lot's of catastrophes in my dreams, and dangerous stuff, but it's never directly effecting me.DJErmac wrote: Thu Jan 09, 2025 9:44 pmzerocrossing wrote: Thu Jan 09, 2025 9:37 pmDon't expect too much. I joke around a lot in my dreams and wake myself up laughing. The jokes are pretty much never funny, but that gets me laughing even more because why did dream me think they were funny? Once I dreamt that I'd become homeless because the apartment I was renting wasn't ready to move into (this actually did once happen to me) and all my stuff was on a big cart and homeless people were trying to take my stuff. A guy who I knew from around town took my shampoo and ran. I chased him down and cornered him in a store and took it back and said, "if you don't stop fu<king with me, I'll hit you so hard, you'll learn to read."
I do dream of gear too, though I can't think of any at the moment.

If you like that particular design on the photo (which is a keyboard version of Supernova AFAIK) - look at the Novation Nova desktop. I have one myself and this is my first synth love. I have two of them, second one as a backup. It is small, won't take much space. The sound is speficic and won't work in any genre, but if you like it, it is worth hunting for one.
I don't know any other VA synth which is so feature rich but still hands-on. Dunno, maybe it is like a 'first sex experience' type of thing and I'm biased. From the modern ones, novation peak and summit are it's grand-children, a solid choice as well with a more broad spectrum of sounds.
PS. And Novation Nova Desktop has the same VFD (vacuum fluorescent) display as the one on the photo, which is a pure beauty. You won't find in in modern synths - too expensive and requires high voltages, now there are OLEDs everywhere instead.
There's also Novation Supernova rack, but I'm not sure it is usable as a desktop module, probably only in a rack.

A future Supernova-related plugin was discussed recently.

I had to play the one they had at Perfect Circuit in December. Very pretty, solid feel to the build- almost like it was made in Germany …_leras wrote: Wed Jan 22, 2025 9:25 am It's the Vermona 14. The most beautiful synth ever made.

Even the same knobs. Less physical switches though. I completely missed this synth. Looks pretty decent!cryophonik wrote: Wed Jan 22, 2025 4:03 pmThat certainly is a nice looking synth._leras wrote: Wed Jan 22, 2025 9:25 am It's the Vermona 14. The most beautiful synth ever made.

GS e7 has a very similar color option that I assume was a homage to the 14.

Yes, definitely a very high quality engineered feel. Like some industrial specd synth.Constructed Identity wrote: Wed Jan 22, 2025 10:26 pmI had to play the one they had at Perfect Circuit in December. Weird, I thought someone else had mentioned the DSI Poly Evolver early on, but I must have dreamed that!
