This would be easy to add with a simple rotation option in sosci. I'll note it down and add it in a later version!nordickvr wrote: Thu Jan 23, 2025 1:08 pm As an example, one from ToneBoosters https://www.toneboosters.com/tb_goniometer_v1.html

Thank you.jameshball wrote: Thu Jan 23, 2025 2:32 pmThis is just static binaries from evermeet. I'm taking binaries from here: https://github.com/eugeneware/ffmpeg-st ... s/tag/b6.0 which does include native Apple silicon binaries for ffmpegso it should all be native.
Those binaries need to be compiled though?

Sosci downloads the pre-compiled binaries from that GitHub link when you try and record for the first time. They don't need compiling

SOSCI standalone and OSCI-Render (VST3) records and saves without any issues.
SOSCI VST3 plugin, however.. has issues at my end:
--- clicking the SOSCI record button freezes Reaper until I force-close Reaper.
Latest FULL FFMPEG build `ffmpeg-2025-01-20-git-504df09c34-full_build` is installed, but still having the freeze issues with the plugin version of SOSCI..
My system: Win11 64bit (Reaper 7.30)
Any help/ideas would be appreciated.. thx!

Sorry to hear this! Do you have any error logs or crash logs from reaper?panspOrmia wrote: Thu Jan 23, 2025 3:57 pm SOSCI standalone and OSCI-Render (VST3) records and saves without any issues.

Could you check the %LocalAppData%/crashdumps folder on your machine to see if there are any crash .dmp files? If there aren't any there, please could you follow these steps to enable crash dumps: https://helpx.adobe.com/uk/xd/kb/how-to ... chine.html
Then when it crashes, you should be able to email james@ball.sh the crash .dmp file that's created in that folder and I can figure out what's causing the crash.
Just to confirm, this is only an issue with sosci VST3 and no problem with osci-render VST3?

CORRECTION: Both SOSCI + OSCI-Render plugins cause the crashes in Reaper (the standalone SOSCI records/saves just fine).

Interesting - I was using Reaper 5 and 7 for a bit the last couple of days (Bitwig does NOT LIKE 192kHz samplerate!) and everything worked flawless, also on Windows 11.
Good luck with finding the issue!
Cheers,
Tom

Thanks for the support you've all shown so far with sosci
Over the last few weeks since the release, I've been working hard on adding lots of new features and quality-of-life improvements to sosci! Here are some of the highlights:

Over the last few weeks since the release, I've been working hard on adding lots of new features and quality-of-life improvements to sosci! Here are some of the highlights:
- You can now control the position and scale of the image on the visualiser, as well as flip the image vertically and horizontally
- You can now customize the resolution and frame rate of the visualiser recording, up to 2048x2048 at 240fps!
- The quality of the real oscilloscope images and glow is now significantly improved
- There are new afterglow and overexposure effects that can be used to realistically control how the light of the beam behaves over time
- You can now drag-and-drop to open any supported file types and projects in sosci
- MANY other quality-of-life improvements!

Hi James
I've been unable to run any vst3 release of osci-render here on Linux past version 2.3.0. The standalone runs ok, but none of my hosts can load the vst3. It might be gui-related as the plugin fails to spawn a window when being validated in Tracktion Waveform (which it does with 2.3.0).
Here's the pluginval output:

...not sure, but here's Vector... This would be an instant buy for me for this alone. Vector hasn't had any competition till perhaps thisThomasHelzle wrote: Thu Jan 23, 2025 1:24 pm Ah, I see.
Well, basically Sosci shows the left channel input on the X axis and the right channel input on the Y axis.
So Mono signals show up as a diagonal line from left-bottom to top-right.
As I understand it, the only difference in a gonio style view would be that a mono line is vertical? Or is there more to it?
Maybe James knows more - I'm only a user![]()

I'll make sure it's in the next version and update this thread when it is! You can already do that with osci-render premium which is bundled in with sosci by rotating the image, but it would be great as a dedicated feature in sosciDebutante wrote: Thu Feb 06, 2025 10:22 pm...not sure, but here's Vector... I'm sorry to hear that! Linux support is a tricky one as there's a million different configurations. The main difference past 2.3 is that is now uses the new in-built oscilloscope which uses opengl. Do you have any more specific error messages? Maybe there's an additional package you need to install for opengl? But strange that it only affects the plugin. Have you tried another DAW?sprnva wrote: Wed Feb 05, 2025 9:41 am Hi James

Hi James. I'd tried a couple of DAWs and that was the best I could get for an error.jameshball wrote: Thu Feb 06, 2025 10:32 pm I'm sorry to hear that! Just now I installed Ardour to see what it would do. The plug-in manager there gives this error: Invalid VST3 Module Path: ''
Running Ardour from a terminal gives this error:
VST3 not a valid bundle: '/home/me/.vst3/osci-render-free.vst3/Contents/x86_64-linux/osci-render-free.so'
Maybe that's a clue?
