Hahaha, gotta love you Bitwiggers. Bitwig is releasing a pretty innovative product with many, MANY features not common among audio interfaces geared towards modular synths and remote controlling the DAW and the first comment is already complaining.

Please elaborate on what’s actually innovative about this product? The whole volume knob doubling as a controller thing—we’ve seen that already. DC outputs? Pretty much every interface nowadays does that. And controlling modular synths? Let’s be honest, how many people actually need that? Making a product for such a niche group feels like a weird choice right out of the gate.

Bitwig, as usual, doing their own thing, completely ignoring what most people actually want.

The only truly unique feature here that awful orange colour. Guess we’re stuck with that forever. Well done.

Yes it isn't ADAT rather the ES-9 has optical S/PDIF . I am using BlueCat Connector to get around the limitations to some degree.

The only issue is that you don't get many CV in/outs. 2 in, 4 out isn't bad, but it isn't impressive. The ES-8 has 4i/8o and ADAT ports. The ES-9 has 8i/14o and ADAT.

The Es-9 doesn't have ADAT. I wish it did..

I agree the 2 in 4 out doesnt look that much, but you could for example use some of the TRS 6.3 outputs to send audio to your gear. And you have the 3.5 midi in/out which you can use aswell. There are plenty of modules which convert Midi to CV and vice versa..

When I was a kid looking at green screens where people were playing some basic command line version of Dungeons and Dragons, I would have never guessed 40 years ago the two consistent things on the internet would be influencers and men arguing on forums about their hobbies or professions, but here we are.

I would probably prefer an official MIDI 2.0 controller, similar to Ableton Push, grind or keys versions, or even just a controller surface (faders, knobs, step sequencer...).

To get something like that, you need to start with something like this.

I think it's a good sign that they are doing this. It wouldn't be their core programming team so much, and it shows a positive forward looking project.

Congrats to the Bitwig team I'm sure it's not a trivial project to complete!

Just an extra observation.

This would really benefit from having 2 mic/inst inputs instead of 1.
Specially at this price.

I don't see much people spending hundreds in a DAW and needing this interface/controller (or maybe at Teenage Engineering). I really hope that Bitwig marketing is still connected to earth!

I also wonder how much market research Bitwig does and how connected they are to what people really look for.

On the other hand, Bitwig is such an innovate DAW because they're not just marketing / demand driven, but have their own vision and go for that. A good mix between both would be nice
