The emails I got from Steinberg seemed to indicate anyone who doesn't upgrade to their new licensing system before they shut down elicenser will lose their upgrade path. Did I understand that correctly?

I guess I'm done with Steinberg if that's true. Bummer, but I'm on 10.5 which is what, 5 years old? Seems a conspicuously short time for a company to deem an upgrade path invalid.

Yes. If the license, to be upgraded, has to go from eLicenser to Steinberg Licensing then that has to be done before it shuts down.
