Hi folks,

First time poster, longish time producer, but only starting to get into sound design lately, especially after coming across a post on here on how to recreate the DJ Quicksilver / Nikolai lead sound (thanks @choos who did this magic in Synth1!). I heavily relied on tweaking presets up to now.

Ones I havent come across in commercial preset packs, is the lead pluck sounds in my favourite Space Brothers tracks - Shine & Forgiven. They are slightly different plucks. I did watch some interviews with them, and they mentioned their trademark sound was a Roland preset which I bought, but it ended up being the voxy pads sound in both tracks and not the leads (preset called "heirborne" on Roland JV 1080 if anyone is interest!)

Could someone with better sound design ears than me help recreate the lead plucks in these tracks? I use Ana, Sylenth, Serum, Spire etc.

Love the Space Bros. Know exactly the sound. It's not a synth preset. It sounds like a square wave on top of a bell/glockenspiel sound ran through a filter with prolly some tremolo (is that the word?) added.

I know, this is such a good pluck and amazing, timeless tracks. Sounds like a woody, FM pluck maybe layered with an airy detuned part. Or it might just be a detuned pluck with a locked phase to give it the click. Amazing sound though.

It's very FM type. Sytrus has a great one that's really close (if layered correctly)

Have you tried Syntorial? It’s a great place to start learning synthesis and will help you start to identify how sounds are produced. You’ll need to train your ears to identify the oscillators, the effects and amp envelopes etc. after that you can start to make your own plucks etc. it’s not easy but it is rewarding and you’ll start hearing sounds in tracks you like and start to implement that into your sound design

Space Bros is one of the reasons I got into music production. 'I Still Love You' is one of my all time favorites and I still play it in the car.

it's definitely an organ sound.
you could layer in that attacky sound if the organ doesn't have it but I would start with an organ vst.
it's nothing fancy so some cheap freeware organ synths should get you very close
