Anyway, getting back to Monster cable, if you hate them, use the crap out any MCs you may own and keep getting new ones. That way YOU win. You get your money's worth.
You make it sound like Monster Cable are the only people who make decent cables. i've been using my Whirlwind connectors (with Belden cable i believe) for at least 20 years - not replacements like yours, literally the same cables.

I am all for Boycotting against companies/artists/countries that do things against everyone's better interests, but cutting up a cable you are guaranteed to have for life is like cutting off your nose to spite your face. I probably own 30-40 Monster cables and have for probably 15 years. I never have to buy new cables. I just keep getting new free ones. Someone like me costs them more staying with their cables than switching to something else.
Jeff, I appreciate your line of reasoning, but I'm more of a poet than an accountant ;)

No, not at all. I'm just saying that if you already have them, it's silly to get rid of them over this. I believe They do have the best guarantee though.

I had a Whirlwind cable when I was a kid that lasted into my 20's before crapping out. One of those half-curly, half straight ones. :)

I've also got some Hosa Zaolla all-silver cables I got for free to test the sound quality and while I can't hear any difference, they are very well made.

I have to be an accountant to stay in the Black playing music full time. Maintaining your live gear can add up really fast and not having to buy new cords alleviates that somewhat. Even the best made cord won't withstand your Drummer stepping on the connector.

I agree with guitarjeff, I have a lot of monster cable and the monster power supply I won at monster cable training. The warranty alone makes it worth it, but you can't compare Whirlwind to monster. Monster uses technology and doesnt just make a cable, they make an effcient cable. I was the one to bring the gear to the class from my Mars and I set up and did the A/B test. Before that I wouldn't give monster cable a thought, now I have mostly all monster cable. The time wind technology makes a difference, the connectors blow away switchcraft...and ofcourse the warranty...however I won't be buying anymore because I don't need any, and I did get mine for less then the average customer would pay for a store brand cable, so in fact I can say that monster cable didn't make any money from my purchases, but I made them alot because we use to get 2 bucks for every one we sold as a bonus from monster cable (on top of our normal, and the mark up is so high my comission was good too)... :D

mobster cable uses better cable, timewinding (read about it on their page) superior connectors, as a result the cables have much less signal loss, they do not become microphonic as normal cables and on top of that if you played tarzan with your whirlwhind and it broke would they give you another? Monster will

sorry, it's not really a point to argue for me, I'm sold on monster cable, I'll have it as long as they are in business, and basically I feel like this. I wouldn't pour pure water through a rusty pipe to drink it, nor will I send my guitar signal through anything then what I believe to be the best.

I may think they're bastards, but I can't think of any cable as good as theirs.

Post

BTW before I saw how good they were for myself I bought 8mm coax cable (in spools of 50 yards I think) and switchcraft connectors and made my own cables. I don't care for a lot of cheaper cables that use soldering machines. Bad solder joints, or what they use to call cold solder joints can be like little antennas for noise. Hand soldered is better IMHO, but I am the ultimate do-it-yourself guy, so this is no surprise.

Splendid.

You seem like an open minded young man.
Nuffco have just received a consignment of Fengtec motherboards. These have been designed using the principles of Feng Shui to provide a guaranteed* performance boost over stock boards.

Independent tests** have shown that the chi energy running unencumbered through these boards results in a totally unspecified (but nevertheless real) gain in something or other.

How many can I put you down for?

Wow, hink... I can only assume you know what you're talking about as far as what works -for you-, in which case there's no way anyone can debate your personal preference. (debating a personal choice just doesn't make sense!)

However, a 'rusty pipe' is a bit too strong a comparison. That's like saying ALL other cables aren't made with quality in mind, which I'm sure you must know is nonsense.

Let's say for the sake of argument that there IS a slight signal loss in any cable other than Monster. The infantessimal amount of signal loss that's undetactable to mere mortals like most of us would be more like comparing the experience of drinking Evian spring water to the experience of drinking plant-treated and purified tap water. You know? Unless you live in a city with known contamination or purification problems, tap water is fairly pure. It may have a little chlorine and such, but it's certainly drinkable straight out of the tap, refreshes on a hot day, and allows us to make frozen orange juice from concentrate that tastes like it should.

I'd be willing to agree that Evian is more pure than Ottawa tap water. I'll grant you that. But I don't think drinking my Ottawa tap water is significantly more horrible than drinking Evian, and in a blind taste test, I'd be lucky to notice the difference.

Water from a rusted-ass pipe? I'd probably notice more acutely.

"mobster cable" oops! :hihi: just kidding, hink, I know B and N are next to each other on the keyboard

actually I came back to say how cool that after 14 pages, this thread hasn't devolved too much and has been a fairly friendly exchange of differing views

(hope I didn't jinx it :help: )

sorry flashback to salesman days :hihi: Trust me when someone laid down a chunk of cash for a decent mic that line was money in the bank. So yes I admit it's total fluff

btw like my cool play station, its on wheels, swivels and the cables are neatly tucked so I can roll it out to play. That's all I use that tv for, it's attached to the table.. :D
