I'm looking for a machinegun sample. Or, actually, I'm looking to have it match a certain tempo, so I could either stretch it if it's an even burst, or, I guess I could take a single shot sample and copy and paste as necessary.

Any ideas?

If not, I guess I'll break out Ronin and hook up the DVD player to my mixer. :?

f**k Ronin, you'll get a better sample from Heat.

You're right... but I've watched Heat so many times other places that I never got the DVD... I'll prob pick it up at some point.

Machinegun bursts sound best when you capture that mouthwatering thump when the bullet hits the human body. To avoid legal hassle (and no, using stiffs don't sound the same) you could use rats as a substitute. They are very human.

An excellent example of that is in RoboCop where ED-209 shoots the young zek-tiv. When the camera cuts form wide to a close-up on the squibs they add a nice squlching sound to the gunfire. Sheer magic!

I know you don't want to pay, but sometimes $5 is worth it, to avoid the hassle of finding it yourself.

This is a kool sound FX site that prolly has anything you could need, including gunfire. They charge $5 a sample (was going to say "$5 a shot", but that can be misinterpreted here).
