Would it help if I said I’m buying a Mac Laptop that I don’t intend to really use for music at all and I’m sticking with my PC for such things?

I use computers in order to create and produce music. Building computers has nowt whatsoever to do with that. It's a fine hobby in itself I'm sure, but as part of a trolling exercise like arguing this platform against another is something for a grown person to do, well, at least BONES is entertaining, you're just dull all over. "elitist" is beyond silly.havran wrote: Sun Nov 17, 2024 11:42 pm Macs are fundamentally elistst

I mean my M1 cost me a little over 800 bucks. I can suppose some people shop more like a rich person, but fine if you want to place my broke ass among an elite
If your self-built job smokes mine for 800 bucks investment, more power to ya.

Yeah, I agree with this. Every Mac OS or chip upgrade should be designed for backward-compatibility with 3rd-party apps (well, within reason, e.g., not supporting 10-year-old apps).seafire wrote: Fri Jan 31, 2025 8:21 pm If you have any respect for the devs you buy software from, don't buy a mac
My comments in earlier posts didn't reflect my own experience (PC user) but what I had read over time from professional, working musicians on the clock having to deal with compatibility and unusability issues involving their 3rd-party apps and plugins after either a Mac hardware or OS upgrade.
But the bad news for all the single-person and small-shop plugin developers is that they get blamed for the disruption and suffer the discontent of their customers, while Apple blithely swans on without a care in the world.
It has been reported that the late Steve Jobs liked to wash his feet in the toilet for the sake of efficiency. My late Irish Grandmother would probably threaten to wash some heads in the toilet (if she had ever been a Mac user).

I've lost 4 days researching new parts for my PC to get it as silent as possible. The dominos kept falling and I need a new case, PSU, cooler and fans.
I'm tired of chasing problems, I just want to make music, man.
I'm so bitterly annoyed with fans I'm gonna get a Macbook Air
give me SILENCE.
