No you can't, performance mode allows for multi timbral performances, but you can't use one to modulate another

Ah, that's what you mean. Well, that would just end up being a whole buncha noise!

All FM programming can end up as noiseEvilDragon wrote: Fri Jan 31, 2025 9:17 am Ah, that's what you mean. Well, that would just end up being a whole buncha noise!
You can do something similar in FM-X in Montage and HALion7 but it's kind of clunky to implement
Interesting and fun to mess around with however

Going through all the factory presets (including percussion) and no matter how I modify the envelopes, there seems to be a permanent sustain. Although sometimes it's not loud. On Reaper Windows. Nothing I do can make a pluck. Hiss on the hats just keeps going.
Also as previously mentioned have the GUI issue where I have to scroll down.

Are you using 1.0.4?empphryio wrote: Fri Jan 31, 2025 2:13 pm Going through all the factory presets (including percussion) and no matter how I modify the envelopes, there seems to be a permanent sustain. When you say permanent sustain do you see the vu meter still up and the voice count still up?

Yes 1.0.4 but it's my mistake. There are a very few presets that don't have a sustain that I missed. Of the three factory percussion, two keep playing, the VU meter is still indicating sound though low. And then I was unsuccessful in getting rid of the sustain, not seeing the global envelope. Upon realizing the existence of the global envelope I see that these two percussion while appearing to have global sustain slider at zero when eyeballing them, they actually still have a tiny bit, which just needed turned off all the way. Sorry.baconpaul wrote: Fri Jan 31, 2025 3:01 pmAre you using 1.0.4?empphryio wrote: Fri Jan 31, 2025 2:13 pm Going through all the factory presets (including percussion) and no matter how I modify the envelopes, there seems to be a permanent sustain. I love Six Sines! I have Dexed to load DX7 sysex which is great. I also have FM8 which I love some of the sounds with the effects (what we always wanted out of our DXs back in the day). And I will check out the Plogue. In my world you can't have enough DX. However it needs to be used in moderation, like a spice.

The OSC has been finding loads of things and giving us lots of ideas. The nightly is pretty exciting.
But it also helped me find a critical bug. If you are running the stable version and are a mac user, you should upgrade to 1.0.5.
Thanks!

Super Cool! Here is my request.
1. Please support grafical UI envelop configuration.
2. Please attach original DX7 and TX81Z presets, and others like OPSIX or FM8.
3. Please support importing SysEX of above.
4. Please improve presets browswer function.
Even though this is almost 1st version, I believe this synth has huge potential.
We have some free FM synth these days, but DEXED supports only sign wave,
and EXAKT LITE doesn't support SysEX importing with 4 operators only,
and also their algorithem and feedback are limited.
If Six Sines cover those functions, it will be a best free FM synthesizer in the world.
Can't wait upcomming version up!

FYI all, this is the OSC synth this month. (It's that stickied thread at the top of the forum).

The Yamaha DX7 and TX81Z had more advanced 8 stage envelopes than Six Sines does so it can't really load SysexTommyJP wrote: Wed Feb 05, 2025 5:36 pm Super Cool! Here is my request.

The biggest issue with OpSix, Dexed, and FM8 however is that fundamentally they don't sound like actual DX7 Hardware, so when you load Sysex for patches created on and for DX7 hardware they won't sound the same, or won't sound as the creator of them intended them to. Maybe that matters to you or maybe it doesn't
If you want something that sounds exactly like the DX7 hardware with the extra waveforms that are in TX81Z and that still loads DX7 sysex get OPS7 from Plogue it's $50 and goes on sale for like $25 from time to time. It's so close it even runs DX7 firmware in its code
If you put it in enhanced mode you can even do a bunch of things the OG couldn't like have feedback on every operator

Yes, don't expect this synth to support patches from other FM synths. It will never happen.

You can recreate DX7 Sounds by taking a DX7 programming sheet from the 80’s and simply try to replicate. The envelopes are very different though, not all is possible…

Envelopes seem the obvious restriction, but the biggest difference with a DX7 that is often overlooked on many FM synths (both software and hardware) are the keyboard scaling options per operator. Case in point, Starsky Car compared the Opsix with a DX7 and wondered why the Opsix sounded very close to the DX7 (for imported prsets) in the middle of the keyboard, but completely different at the low and high end of the keyboard. Makes me think he never actually programmed a DX7 (which figures, as he is an analog afficionado
).
