Hello all,
I’m beyond excited to announce that Korneff Audio has teamed up with Shure to bring the iconic Level-Loc compressor into the world of plugins!
This legendary unit, made famous by its gritty, punchy sound, has been a (not so) secret weapon for Tchad Blake and countless other producers and engineers. We worked closely with Shure and Tchad to ensure every nuance of its character is faithfully captured, right down to its quirks and charm.
The Level-Loc plugin features faithful modeling of the original hardware and some tweaky circuit stuff on the back panel (that you can choose to use—or not).
It’s live now at Korneff Audio, and we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Check out the story and some behind the scenes action here:

This surely looks like another Korneff - Keeper.

I own everything you have put out besides the Microverb model(not a fan of IR verbs)but i am going to pass on this one for now. The gainstaging is extremely tedious to manage and levels can get out of hand without even trying too hard to make that happen. I also don't understand why there is a preamp that does absolutely nothing that the output volume already does as it doesn't saturate or influence prior stages in the model at all based on my own listening tests. This really really needs autogain to be useable as its quite a frustrating experience for the moment

The preamp is placed at the end of the wet signal to bring it back up to line level. This way, you can adjust the average loudness so that the wet and dry signals remain even. From there, the output trim controls the final level of the wet/dry blend.TIMT wrote: Wed Jan 29, 2025 4:46 am I also don't understand why there is a preamp that does absolutely nothing that the output volume already does as it doesn't saturate or influence prior stages in the model at all based on my own listening tests.
Maybe I’ll add a block diagram to the manual to help clarify the signal flow. It’s not as complicated as it may appear once you see how everything connects.

this is a good one, for sure not same old, same old and surprisingly versatile. it just works w/o gumming everything up.
makes you wonder what's next for these guys, like maybe the fuzz unit on those old Acoustic 360 bass refrigerator cabinets so we can all get our Larry Graham thing going?

I agree. I'm liking the plugin, and the different options you can do, but some kind of auto-gain would be neat here, so you're not constantly adjusting output amp volume (since some settings make large changes to volume). Auto-gain would make the A/B ing of different settings easier.TIMT wrote: Wed Jan 29, 2025 4:46 am I own everything you have put out besides the Microverb model(not a fan of IR verbs)but i am going to pass on this one for now. totally
i love and own Amplified Instrument Processor and Pawn Shop Compressor, but i just can't pull the plug on this one, mostly cos the gain staging is irritating for me.

Wonder how this compares to the Soundtoys Devil-Loc

I think, that you can find the compare video on YouTube. IMHO, Soundtoys is still more easy to use. And sounds great. You need to do so many tweaks in Level-Loc to sounds the same... but of course Level-Loc have more tweaks. Need to demo it...

Looks nice. And the main question. Does this request any application to install this one? Like central or something? Or it's simple activation via the serial number?

the new Korneff auth is a log in to activate basically.
need an account at the Korneff website to purchase or demo
