not everyone who puts out stuff cares about views/listens/royalties.
i put my stuff on youtube, because it's free storage, for me to listen to and easily share with friends.
that other people find it, is nice, but i don't really promote it, eg this (kvr) is the only place i post anymore, so not expecting a great deal of traffic.

he sold one painting when he was alive
he never priced his paintings below normal price
point of order: vvg sold many paintings in his lifetime, having worked in his brothers gallery, he did only sell one of his own paintings, this is true.
vvg is internet speak for very very good

sure, some may say "lies, and more lies"

your stuff may not be dust for thousands of years though
that`s why some people make stuff, because they know they will die but their stuff will go on?
but these people really believed their stuff is so good

jimmy page also said something like "i don`t care about fame or money, just that our stuff don`t fade so fast"
or something like that
all the greats must have had that in common

benn jordan and a few others summarized the staus quo really well.
basically, the era of musician's getting ripped off only got worse even as the music industries reinvents itself while it's dying.

...and were a huge global swamp of amateurs suffocating in each other's music breath.

Liz Pelly recently wrote a book “Mood Machine: The Rise of Spotify and the Costs of the Perfect Playlist.”

Spotify lets external companies create AI-made music, and puts that into their editorial playlists as it were real artists...

Meanwhile, the real artists don't even get a chance to get into these playlists. No wonder why so much artists don't get heard, because of Spotify has built in mechanisms where real artists don't benefit (only the ones who are already big and famous), but only Spotify gets rich.
And most listeners don't even know or apparently care, because the majority still keeps listening to it.

So, does Spotify pay different rates in different countries? This is from my payout spreadsheet:
Spotify IllekTrikOne Love is Evil 1 Song n/a US $0.003396999909
Spotify IllekTrikOne Love is Evil 169 Song n/a FI $0.048845623564

Confusing because the 1 play in the US earns the 0.003, my calculator tells me Finnish Spotify should be 0.57409284621
(You'll never get rich)

That's true indeed.
I couldn't find a list with a ranking though, but I know from my spreadsheet that there's a lot difference between countries.

Good article. Hard to believe a million streams would basically net you a not very good used car here in the US.

when you look at how little a million views on spotify or Youtube pays...then understand just how hard it is to get a million streams/views...then when you think about how a platinum record used to be a million sales...it is a fascinating transition
