For those who have used, am wondering. Is it at least better than 7? If so, is it at least as good or (dare we dream) better than 6.X? What did or didn't they get right?

Its GUI is, in my opinion very slightly less stupid than K7's. I'll be staying with "Kontakt", the one between 5 and 7 with no number appended to the name. I happened across this new piano (seems like it was called Piano Uno) that was nicely playable in Kontakt 8 Player, I may call on it for a scratch piano part because it felt 'lite footprint' or efficient. First time in a while I didn't purchase the upgrade almost immediately (might be the only time). I truly hate K7. I don't understand those decisions, "Libraries" taking up the whole space. Also the AU is botched (2 major bugs) at least in VE Pro. I'm actively offended by the one-finger non-musician target market for K8, "Leap" & that kind of dross.
After a couple of minutes with 7 or 8 it's a sigh of relief opening "6" with a normal interface. As per 7 the only reason I have is to make note of the bugs to say something. The VST3 is ok, it's just not for me.

Kontakt 6 was a more faster and stable for me... also I don't like that in version 8 (I was switched to the old view) I need always to click to Kontakt text to see my libraries as it was in Kontakt 6 or 7.. Maybe I do something wrong?..
Hope that they will improve the stability and speed in the future...
It's reality and for the new libraries we need Kontakt 8...

Yeah, I have to admit I don't even fully know how to use Kontakt 7 or 8. I was using Kontakt before there was even a number appended to the name, but WTF is this now.

I would recommend only buying 7 or 8 if a must-have library required it. Otherwise dont bother. I bought 7 automatically and regretted it as a waste of money in the end. Will be much more careful buying Kontakt in the future.

I got it over the weekend and played the “altered keys” and “piano one”. It is OK, it gets the job done. Is it not even resizable? Seems like NI is behind in vst development. Phrases is supposed to ‘Smash writer’s block’ yea, whatever…

Kontakt 5 was quirky, but it had the least problems with finding and recognizing all my libraries. K6 looked promising, but would often lose those libraries or in some cases, never be able to load them again. And support became more and more absent or equally unable to even hear what the issue was. Kontakt 7 seems to find those libraries better, but the biggest problem is NI itself and the NAccess perfidy. It's kept me from upgrading to K8.

I'm huge on the organization of K8 and being able to filter on specific instruments so quickly. Though I will say adding a tab to go to their website to purchase additional libraries is a pretty anti-consumer to me which surprised me because I usually find them to be great in that regard.
