Music should bring harmony, not stress :phones:

But the link is https://github.com/baconpaul/six-sines/ ... ag/Nightly
No, I mean inside the readme here: https://github.com/baconpaul/six-sines
So people who aren't familar with github also can find the nightlies.

Ouch, something seems to be wrong with the nightly and the recent release version, using Renoise 3.44:

Already did a rescan.

wow i have no idea why reason would be confused about that.

You can still grab 1.0.4 from the downloads page if you want. Seems my reason 12 NFR has expired so I don't know how to debug this.

Post

oh shoot. renoise not reason.

well my renoise nfr is working. let me see if i can see anything.

Hmmm OK so I can load both the nightly and 1.0.5 in renoise 3.4.3 on my mac.

which version are you running hans?

I think what i'm going to suggest though is

1. remove the six sines vst3 altogether
2. start renoise and force a rescan
3. install the 1.0.5
4. start renoise and force a rescan

it sounds like a cache has got out of synch. I'm not sure why off hand. also happy to debug this in pm or GitHub to spare the thread. your option

I did that and now found out that your installer will not overwrite a newer version. So if the alpha already is installed, the 1.0.5 will not install, since the alpha is newer. You might have to change that in the installer settings.

After manually deleting "Six Sines.vst3" in the vst3 dir and then installing v1.05, Six Sines works normally in Renoise. I then again installed the recent alpha and again it does not load, showing the error mentioned above.

So I (hopefully correctly) conclude that there are two problems:

- Recent alpha is a effect for Renoise
- The installer won't overwrite an already installed newer version

Do you agree here? Or do you think there also is a problem on Renoise's side?

I was able to reproduce this. I think it is a renoise bug but it's real. The biggest difference between the nightly and 1.0.5 is the nightly contains two plugins (the normal and seven outs variation). renoise doesn't scan the VST3 as two things. So I think it's just confused about multi-plugin vst3 plugins. I'll do a test to confirm this over the weekend.

This seems correct. It's also amazing. Of all the bugs I thought people would find an installer one wasn't one. The installer is the only part of six sines which isn't new and is the same one we've been using for basically everything for about 4 years. You are the first person to notice this.

Yes it is exactly this. If I do a local build of the nightly with the second plugin disabled, renoise scans it properly. Ugh.

So can you remind me which forum the renoise dev reads? I've interacted with them before pleasantly but don't remember. I'll let them know. And I'll think about an easy way to do a dual build in the pipelines with both flavors of plugin for you on the nightly. But that wont happen today. (Edit: It did happen today!)

I already mentioned this thread in the Renoise forum here: https://forum.renoise.com/t/macos-error ... t3/75303/4.

Renoise forum is the place to contact the Renoise devs. You might send a PM directly to Taktik inside that forum.

Cool I updated there and also did get around to making the single-plugin variation in the pipelines. If you erase, rescan, restart, download that one, and go, you should be fine. So renoise users - and only renoise users - on the nightly should use the plugin called (say) six-sines-macos-single-plugin-2025...

Post

Single plugin version works nicely in Renoise now, thanks!

Post

For any renoise users following at home, Hanz, taktik and i have now identified the problem. If you are using renoise and upgrade from 1.0 to the nightly theres an extra-special-cache-clear you need to do which is on the renoise forum link above. And since we now know what it is, i'm going to remove the somewhat confusing single plugin builds from the nightlies.

@baconpaul ...

Would it be possible (if deemed a reasonable idea) to have some "quick buttons" with the ratio knobs? When you want whole numbers or reasonable fractions typing is clunky.

How about some small buttons for e.g. x2 per press, so you can easily dial in 2,4,8,16,32 and another to increment a divisor by 2 for going down to 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16/1/32 . You could have maybe also a +1 to give easy access to odd numbers and a similar scheme to give easy access to e.g. 1/3, 1/5 etc.

... or some such scheme for quick access to common ratios.

Happy if you deem this to be a stupid idea :-)

Still a happy user of a real pristine DX-11!
