Hi
I'm looking for cheap (very cheap) notation software. ideally it'd be easy to use, too.
I've used Sibelius (in school) until now, but it's too expensive even with student discount.
help

I think the various Cakewalk products have a great notation component. Can't tell you the various prices, but I think there's an Express version that goes cheap and has notation.

Something like Sibelius and not expensive... you should chek here http://www.myriad-online.com/en/index.htm
And don't let the price fool you: this soft is just powerfull....
i don't know what feature you have in Sibelius that you don't have in this masterpiece.

On one of the most recent PCFormat magazine cover disks is a program called "Mozart", which does notation and allows MIDI export as well.
So... the cost of a covermount magazine is pretty cheap! If you're in the UK, though, the mag is probably already off the shelves. Should still be available in the US and Canada for another few weeks if you can find it. Also has an "MP3 Surgeon" program and "Dexster 1.0 Audio Editor", neither of which seem particularly useful to me.

Anvil studio has a free version ,its a sequencer with notation built in, limited though, but you can use the midi out function and use your softsynths in another sequencer or just export as midi file, I don't think you can you more than two staffs at a time though so its ok for piano music

Wait, oh yes-- there it is... "VERY cheap", even.
Sell something, like a guitar, and buy Sibelius!

Well, there you go...staff paper and pencils...cheap. No MIDI output, however.Lunch Money wrote:
I'd do it by hand with homemade staff paper before selling any of my guitars.
Why would a guitar player need music paper anyway? Just kidding--an old joke.

There are a number of programs that can scan sheet music and turn it into Midi - Smartscore, Photoscore, Vivaldi Scan to name but a few.wsaidah wrote:does anyone no of any software that can import pdf score music
If they don't read PDFs directly, just print the PDF and then scan it. Assuming you have a printer and a scanner, of course!

And still extra-cheap is Notepad Plus (I saw it on the right of the page linked to above), which adds MIDI import and export for $25.95. Not bad!Gwydi wrote:What about Finale's Notepad? It's FREE - can't get much cheaper than that
