Hell yes 🤘🏻
Every. Single. Project.
How can it be that no one has beaten this in the past 16? years?
Really ? You like it more than Supermassive or Deelay ?
Genuinely curious. Seems low on features, but perhaps has that special element... :hyper:
I miss that delay, and if anyone knows of a replacement that runs on Apple silicon I’d love to demo it! Yes, it has “that special element”, a grungy, lofi feedback that I absolutely loved.
Well I can only think of Deelay, free and so much to tweak including saturation and modulation, also Baby Audio Comeback Kid delay, also free with a lofi mode. Both really cool very usable freebies.

The closest thing to vintage BBD hardware. I can't use it anymore, so I'm still looking for a replacement.

I have both IK and UAD BBD plugins, both not bad, but not sure how they'd compare.
Other than that, I like using Waves StudioRack a lot, free and can help build custom FX chains, perhaps one way you can emulate or even go further. Enjoy :)

My guess is that I might get close with the new delay in Reason 13 (that I haven't used yet). The point is that this delay gives "that" sound effortlessly. I'm also thinking about hooking up my old Ibanez DM-1000 (the real deal), but that is also quite a hassle.

I tried Deelay, but couldn't get the ET-301 sound out of it unfortunately. Comeback Kid is 69€, and I'll rather buy an analog BB delay at that price, and the online demos didn't really sound that good.

ET-301 has a unique, charming sound and I hope to get that sound one day again. Meanwhile I use Modnetik as my main character delay, it has excellent options to tune the sound, but it also remains too hi-fi to reproduce the hissy, dubby, almost metallic, cheap feedback of ET-301.

Interesting. Perhaps experiment with adding a bitcrusher on the return after the delay, that could well be how the ET-301 got its character because of components limitations.
I recommend Tritik Krush it's free and has lots of features.

Haven't used the ET-301 for quite some time but from what I remember, isn't the sound (at least roughly) similar to the Space Echo?
So have you tried any of the Space Echo emus already?, I like the one from GSI for example, but there are quite a few others.

If you really need that old digital delay sound, I'd say set up Reason's The Echo and do some sound design to match. Notable features:
* Feedback loop accepts other plugins, so you can add any noise/crush/filter/comp to dial in the feedback sound.
* The feedback loop allows you to go >100%, meaning you can push it into serious feedback crunch.
* You can mod the time as tape, ie with pitch change or without pitch change.
* It also gives you ducking.
I used to own an old Ibanez mono digital delay rack unit, and The Echo would be my go to if I need some real dub style echos.
