Actually, the little trick shamann shared with us is part of the FLASH TUTORIAL sequence at xt-hq.Caleb wrote:Of course what would help is to have more examples of these kinds of utilities readily available with some documentation attached. There are some available with varying levels of explanation.

The "wrong direction"fat300 wrote:in my feeling the development of XT is moving in the wrong direction in the last weeks, as the sequencer is more and more in the focus it seems.
I disagree that its sequencer cannot stand up to "mature" sequencers. It's less bloated, and it has the potential to be even more amazing! Plus it's way cheaper! And it has Jorgen for a developer, which none of the other products have
Anyway, I'm one of those who doesn't spend that much time with the arp/env/other comps. Of course I've used them, looked up what other people are using them for, I know all about the cool things you can do with them, but I guess I'm just not big into making those kinds of sounds or composing in that sort of a manner. I prefer to keep things simple and keep as much control as possible.
I mean, it's FUN and all to just go in and play around

Well i'm not trying to bash XT, but i think it would
be better if XT development goes into the directions that are different from the other audio programs and not try to be a cubase/sonar / etc clone.
I do not think XT is a toy, but a TOOL and i use it very often, but in combination wit other sequencers.
anyway, this is just a matter of personal taste.

the stuff I'm working on now is very different from cubase/sonar, its more live and pattern oriented sequencing (in addition to linear sequencing). This is something I miss in other sequencer, thats why I'm so sequencer-focused at the time being
but, the other comps are not dead thats for sure, and they will be improved in the future too (arp, sampler, etc), and a new comp is being worked on
I have a todo list with suggestions that should keep my busy for the next year improving ALL comps and workflow in eXT
cheers

I wholeheartedly disagreefat300 wrote:the modular approach and the Arp / chord / midiparts are the strongest point of XT, where the sequencer is the weakest and cannot stand against "mature" software sequencers imho.

I know Sonar and Tracktion from the inside out (and own both) - nonetheless I prefer eXT's sequencer.fat300 wrote:Well i'm not trying to bash XT, but i think it would

(I'm doing a lot of midi stuff and also a lot of audio stuff (vocals, guitars, etc.))

I'm in agreement that eXT's strength is it's modularity. However, the best thing about it is that it's design lets you and I use it one way, and others use it their way.fat300 wrote:I do not think XT is a toy, but a TOOL and i use it very often, but in combination wit other sequencers.
I had hesitations about the sequencer, but having worked with it recently, I can honestly say it is nice to have as an option. And the sampler is fantastic.
It takes time building all these things, but in the long run eXT will have enough in there for everyone.
Cheers,
Steve

Just picked up on a point that would outline strong features (and how to use them
).
There seems a little bit of negativity towards the sequencer comp, so what are user's uses of Ext using another host/sequencer. There must be more than the Arp+Chord comp?
