while this particular one isnt for me, eurorack is full of digital stuff, oscillators, filters, pretty much anything.
im sure there are analogue purists, same as anywhere, probably digital purists too

Digital can go well with analogue - I've used a few of the original PPG sounds out of my 3rd wave to create nifty little melodies in my most recent album.

In my rig I own 0 dedicated analog oscillator modules, and 10 dedicated digital oscillator modules. Some of them are very much intentionally "digital sounding." I don't especially think of my modular as "an analogue setup."

Analog oscillators are just not very interesting to me in general (there are some specific nice ones, but none that will steal space from my digital ones).

But no interest in a dedicated PPG wavetable VCO though.

Mostly I prefer analog in eurorack, both in instruments and effects (also pedals). I think my oscillators are all analog save one, though I have some digital effects. Anyway, digital does not chase me off, but definitely not on my high list.

*My biggest problem with digital, is that exactly like how it is on a desktop computer, you are bound by the unit's cpu...

*Interestingly, if you've ever had to deal with polyphony on say, a wavetable synth module,
you'll understand very quickly, why this can be problematic...

Not counted as dedicated VCOs, but digital and can act as VCOs: Rings, Beads, Stages, Mimeophon, Legio.

Blades is an analog filter but can self-oscillate, and Function can loop at audio rate (but not track V/OCT).

I do also have a Strega and a Minibrute 2S, but I never find myself craving an analog oscillator simply because it's analog; I like those instruments for other reasons.

In my experience there are two places where digital oscillators aren't quite up to what analog can do:

- certain uses of sync. E.g. trying to sync oscillator phase to the onset of a fast-attack envelope. Latency in responding to the sync input causes the oscillator to reset after the envelope gets triggered. This can be solved by (A) delaying the gate to the envelope until the oscillator hits a zero crossing, but that's a separate module, or (B) including an EG and VCA/LPG on the same module as the oscillator, as Plaits does. In my case, I just use software synths in the very rare cases where I care about this issue.

- PLL patches. Here, a phase comparator is supposed to feed back to a VCO, so that it locks to the frequency and phase of another signal. Latency (and in some cases, lower sample rates on the FM input) messes it up. This is a pretty esoteric and rarely musically useful thing to do anyway IMHO, and I say that as someone who makes weird music with weird sounds. (And if I still wanted to do it, no reason I couldn't use a self-oscillating filter.)

I'm also using mostly digital oscillators in eurorack land. I have analog oscillators in a few other synths but I'm not really picky. I like having a wide palette, so it's nice to have some flexible digital oscillators (I have a particular fondness for lofi digital oscs, like older Harvestman stuff).

The PPG oscillator looks cool. I didn't realize that it's based on the Liquid Sky V4-CO. Neat that it can be circuitbent with their Glitch expansion module. I like that it's nicely spaced out with full sized controls. I wish it had an input for driving the wavetable with an external oscillator. I'll probably pass on this one but I look forward to hearing it.
