We need a CD emulation plugin now. With good marketing it will sell like hot cakes.

It will absolutely happen some day.

Some lucky person who lived through the 90's as a teen will become a super star / famous producer and will say in some interview how he burned his loops on to a CD-R or CD-RW and got some magic fairy dust from the CD error correction. He will even go as far to say that he used a Plextor PlexWriter WT5224TA to do the burning and then used a vintage Studer D731QC CD player to transfer the audio to his computer. He will convince the masses that this was "pure magic!".

.. after that we will have plugins emulating the jitter/error correction of various brands of CD burn -> CD play chains, modeling different brands of CD-R and CD-RW discs.

Personally I always liked the sound of the genuine straight from the factory Japanese Taiyo Yuden discs. The ones with the pure white label. :hihi:

And likely from Acustica ... I mean they're pretty close as it is with their recent DAC release (Daisy)

Indeed.. and it'll have a -6dB low shelf from 14kHz upwards as that's the "high-end CD sound" they will claim.

It's not bad at all and gives you a quick 'car stereo EQ' boost, if you will. It has a 'sound' and is very easy to use. Is it unique, however? Depends on who you ask. A lot of it is the hype and the mystique of it too; both sell plugins. That dude with the magic ears could probably still make a great sounding record with Cakewalk Pro Audio Deluxe V10, haha. If you don't have a lot of stuff, it might come in handy, but I do have a lot of stuff that does similar things: Spectre by Waves Factory is a bit of a modern classic, as are Inflator and the Softube Tape (can do similar things with higher drive settings). I'm also really enjoying PA's own Louder than Liftoff collaboration: Silver Bullet MK2. It's a different beast, but rather special. Vintage Warmer 2 is a little more complex, but can also get you there. Then there’s Music Hack’s new Fuel which again, while not exactly a tape emulator does the phatenning thing, and is red! Horses for courses.

They probably just wanted to get it to plugin form and charge before the one group who has been doing the Virus chip emulators (i think IIRC it is the same motorola chip?) gets to it and codes/releases it for free.

My friend Gavin has it and claims it's better than the rest

Like most things I think it's less than the sum of it's marketing push. Not really better than similar plugins as much as it may do the same thing differently with a slightly different flavor. Definitely doesn't require any kind of "deep dive."

My friend Goofy has it and claims it's flavoured sh!t.

Numerous Hit Records were also made without it so I don't think it increases my chances as long as I'm in the picture. :hihi: It's another tool and probably a very good one for some people. I'm just not excited about it personally.

I believe this tool is more geared towards professional users.

Numerous hit records were made before DAWs and plugins existed. Looks like we better go back to tape machines and hardware consoles if we want even a chance at making a hit!
A well-behaved signature.

Is it meticously emulated?
