Very interesting. Ideally it would be able to load actual JX-8P sysex data and in a perfect world, even PG-8X patches...
PG-8X is a near perfect emulation of the JX-8P, but abandonware (though it still works, depending on one's system). Inevitably this will be compared to it very, very closely. PG-8X loads sysex from the original, so if the TAL didn't, that would be... highly disappointing.
Great news, though. Very excited to see where this goes.

He did that with the Tal Pha that is sysex with the original Roland hardware...
I would be surprised if he isn't doing that with this too.

Great news ! I’m curious what he’ll add to the feature set and what the UI’ll look like. Can’t wait !

Unfortunately, TAL-Software very quietly added challenge/response copy protection to all of their products. The only way to find out that this had been done was through a small blurb added to the FAQ on his website. I am not at all happy about this....

We already have PG8X. Would rather he makes a JX-10 instead

Since a JX-10 is essentially two JX-8Ps, he would need to do this either way. My guess is that the JX-10 will come quite quickly after the JX-8P emulation, since most of the work will already be done.Nug Wrangler wrote: Fri Mar 28, 2025 11:14 pm We already have PG8X. Has he considered modeling a synth that's NOT a Roland?

I don't see a point in having a separate plugin for JX-10. Patrick will just allow for higher polyphony in JX-8P and that's that.audiojunkie wrote: Sat Mar 29, 2025 2:24 amSince a JX-10 is essentially two JX-8Ps, he would need to do this either way.
