really nice screens, different users like different things and I think that's great. I like some and some I don't but having variety and choice is really nice. looking forward to these being finalized and released. great work!

Very nice work! And, may I add, you seem to work very quickly. I love seeing these skin alternatives (on any plugin basically).

I don't usually get excited for UI changes. It normally doesn't do anything for the music which is what I care about. But these are so nicely done. It brings character to the synth (I guess we can call it that now, eh?) which is what makes hardware appealing.

It appears you did some for Vanguard as well. Will be looking to get both packs when this one is ready.

Yes, same.

In the fullness of time, would the same skins be available with the regular view?

Well, unfortunately only a few synths offer good opportunities for skins. As far as I know, Serum, Dune3 (but I don't know to what extent yet), and of course synths like Diva & Hive - these offer complete access to everything, right up to the complete rearrangement of elements, etc.

Unfortunately, it's generally not that quick, for example a single Nexus skin takes around 10-20 hours of work, even though i had some already finished certain building blocks beforehand to reuse or modify. In total, that adds up to a lot of work time. It probably sounds like a lot at first, but well, others just overlay a graphic over the original background, I started with a completely empty Photoshop file and everything from every shadow line or rust spot is manually inserted, designed, build etc.

And of course some skins in particular are very time-consuming because of the extras. For example, the one that is not quite finished yet and is based on the Buchla Easel, with patch cables and cable sockets - that is very time-consuming to make all the details (or maybe I`m too focused on that, idk... ), especially because of the high resolution. Which is btw so far my favorite, look-wise... next to the Polivoks

I don't currently know how much Dune allows (in terms of possibilities) and how complex it is, but currently - when Nexus 5 skins are finished, then the u-he Diva will probably come next (so far half-finished i would say), and then maybe Serum2 Skin. I had already started on the v1 version, but paused for now for a while because v2 is coming soon.

Unfortunately, Vanguard was a bit more limited than Nexus in terms of skin design possibilites, just a background graphic and a few color codes, but Nexus 5 Retro mode offers much more space and freedom (also thanks to custom knob & button graphics) including the layout. The difference between Vanguard and Nexus, for example, and the Juno or JP8000 inspired skin is very big visually. Nexus is much more appealing.

Yes only for the retro mode. :? The normal Nexus 5 UI doesn't allow it and at the same time, due to the modular/open structure, it would be almost impossible to create a UI skin that follows a fixed model.

But many users also use Nexus simply as a preset player with the mass of available presets - especially for them the retro mode with custom skins might be very interesting.

Here's a small update, 9th of 10 skins finished...

A slightly delayed update on the Nexus 5R skins. I'd love to have all of them (including a small XP) already finished and available, but unfortunately, one or two other projects have been completely in focus over the last few months.

Because there's a very busy construction site next door, which, well... on many days, the noise makes it almost impossible to create sounds – and on some days, practically impossible at all, I've continued with the design of the skins and somehow tackled more than originally planned... so there will now be 15 skins in the final product. I really hope it will be finished in July. As mentioned, probably with a small XP of sounds included. It will be a small, multifaceted tribute to the iconic synths from 1970-2000, so to speak.

Two are still missing because they're not finished yet, and some of the previews posted so far are still receiving small updates/fine-tuning.

Here are a few previews of some new finished (and some almost-finished, where only some fine-tuning is still on the to-do list) skins:
