Why is it that the Audio Modeling Software Center is so consistently unreliable?

It is hands down, the worst software installer I have ever experienced. :x

Anytime I use it to try to install updates on my modern Windows 11 device, it invariably fails on at least one of, if not many more of the attempted downloads.

It can fail at any stage of the updates. During the download, after the download, during installation. :dog:

It has to be the most unstable, unreliable, useless and also one of the slowest Audio Software portal installers I have ever used. I have never experienced such similar updating issues with any other developer's equivalent installers.

It's reached a point, where I actively put off even attempting to update to their latest versions for months and months, because I know I'll probably have to end up installing one at a time, then manually deleting any which fail before reattempting.

With what Audio Modeling charge for their over-priced software, they have zero excuses for this and they ought to be ashamed of themselves for having inflicted this reliably unreliable monstrosity upon their customers. FIX IT!!! :ud:

As far as I am concerned, there are no excuses for the poor performance of this installer.

I have a modern Windows 11 PC, just a couple of years old.

I use no additional AV/Firewall software. Just plain vanilla Windows 11. With a fast 5G ethernet internet. Most other software updates in a matter of minutes if not seconds, without fail.

Audio Modeling Software Center on the other hand, takes forever and still doesn't complete many updates.

It is just awful.

If it's any consolation, it's just as bad on Mac OS. I think it was an 'update' of AM SC v.1.something that broke it on my MB Air 15" M2, OS 14.6.1 Sonoma.

Today I downloaded the shiny new v.2 of the Software Central, used their uninstaller to remove the non-working v.1.x, installed v. 2 and launched it – it hung less than 1 second after showing that it tried to load user settings.

So, Force Quit, tried a second time after reboot – this time I let it be after it hung and after a minute or two instead it crashed in flames.

I've just sent the crash log to support. We'll see. I'll report back.

If it were easy, anybody could do it!

Yeah. Whenever I contact their customer support, they just copy/paste the same FAQ advice, manually delete failed installation folders and retry.

They never acknowledge the root cause of how inept their software installer is.

The above screen shot was taken this morning, in an attempt to update to v3.9.0 ... After clicking "Install All" and about half an hour later, with a few restarts, I just gave up. I think it managed to complete updates for one or two of their whole SWAM Instruments library. The rest of the installers just hung without updating.

I have given up for now. I realise I'll only get it to work by slowly updating each one individually, one after another while "babysitting" each separate installation, until they are all fully updated.

Such a badly coded software. It really is. 🤡
