My turn to gripe. I'm trying to make some room on my main hard drive and... what the hell, why is Roland Cloud Manager nearly two gigabytes?!? It's a software installer... it should not be significantly larger than all the software it installs combined!

Looking at the package contents, it seems it's the Qt GUI library that's causing all the bloat. I haven't touched Qt in decades but man is it just one more frustration on the pile.

In my Program files folder, it seems to be a little over 700 megs (which is still a lot), but maybe it puts other files elsewhere?

So far I have:

750MB in Program Files
400MB in ProgramData

I have a 1.4GB main.db-wal in C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Roland Cloud\Cloud Manager (it's a SQLite journal, I wouldn't touch this)

Then there's the infamous C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Roland Cloud folder. mine is 1.7GB in size because I forgot to delete the backup I made when I was purging the unused stuff from Zenology. Not directly related to the manager app but it can turn into a bloated mess.

@dumbledog are you on Windows or macOS?

Nope, we got Earth Piano and a Space Echo Plugin, and an Amp Sim of the Roland Jazz Chorus Guitar/Keyboard Amp

Knowing Roland they’ll also leave it long enough that someone else will have long since came along to make it irrelevant. It’s now looking like TAL’s going to do that with the JX8P. How many years have they had for an ACB version of it? The phrase too little too late comes to mind.

I forgot I had a VPN still running. When I went to the Gear4Music site it shows they're still selling Sound Canvas. When I turned off the VPN and went back to it, the site said many of the RC plugins weren't available in my country. I'm in the USA.

I thought SC was discontinued?

To be fair, they let you opt out of receiving any email from them on the sign-up page. Most giveaways require you to log into the account they created for you (when you signed up) to opt out of any emails from them. (That usually requires asking them to reset a password you never set in the first place, because you didn't want an account; you only wanted the freebie.)

And most giveaways don't tell you on the sign-up page that they're out of free licenses. Not most of the ones I've seen, anyway.
