Same. I went back to the last non-AI version, seems to work fine on my system so I just plan on using that unless I'm faced with a need to update.Dencheg wrote: Wed Jan 15, 2025 7:39 am I wish it was possible to download a separate build with the "AI" cut out entirely (or replaced with a randomizer)![]()

I have the latest version installed. I don't use the AI at all, really curious if you ignore that part what is the issue?
There is a trace of RS AI greyed out in the patch browser which I forgot to even activate... so this works just like the previous pre AI builds for me.
Not for others?

I don't think there is any issue if one just ignores it, everything else should work the same, and there may be some stability improvements to the latest version as well. It's mostly the way it seems haphazardly tacked on, uneven and inconsistent with the other UI elements, that bugs me.zvenx wrote: Wed Jan 15, 2025 2:37 pm I have the latest version installed. For those who don't mind it though, I can't think of a reason not to use the latest version.

I've tried the AI. It seems very good indeed. I don't know if I will use it, but for me I consider it like an advanced randomizer. It might be useful when I'm out of sound design ideas or the factory presets are not enough. I don't see a problem in ignoring it when I don't need it

FX lock/disable function is much needed. I want to be able to use external reverb and delay while changing the presets, so I can right away fit them into the mix. It can't be that hard to implement right?

You think that but, in reality, you have no idea. Quadrupling customers would massively increase support requirements and admin, perhaps it makes more sense for the developer to make twice as much money per sale from a more manageable user base? After all, Spire is no more expensive than any of its direct competitors so why would Reveal want to make their product look like it's not worth as much as other, similar products? IIRC, I paid less than $100 for it when it was on sale.
Your obsession with MPE-enabled instruments makes absolutely no sense at all. MPE is of such limited, specific benefit that you only need a couple of synths that support it well to have what you need. MPE implementation in a lot of VSTi is clunky as hell. Honestly, Equator is about the only synth I'd even think about using with MPE, it's the only one that does it properly.

Save your preset witout EFX
Simple like that

I'm not gonna go through my hundreds of third-party presets to disable their reverbs one by one. I already went through the hassle of tagging them, but it was much easier.Gam456 wrote: Tue Feb 18, 2025 7:35 amNo is not.Yim wrote: Wed Feb 12, 2025 3:33 am FX lock/disable function is much needed. Or, have FX lock/disable and you can save your preset however you like--and deal with their presets and third-party ones (should you get some) however you like. Saying lock/disable is needed is overstating, but it's a fine feature for those who give a crap. I like it in DS Thorn and use it quite a bit.

Or hear me out....it takes one mouse click to disable the reverb on any patch. Five clicks and less than four seconds to disable all the FX.Yim wrote: Wed Feb 19, 2025 12:24 am I'm not gonna go through my hundreds of third-party presets to disable their reverbs one by one.
So would it be better to use valuable development time to make something that can already be done a tiny bit easier for some users or would it be better for that time to be spent on something that would benefit all users?
Take user wavetable import for example which has been requested by several users going back years. Even if one does nothing but use third party presets they will benefit because all those third party patch designers will have a wider range of waveforms to work with and hence a wider range of sounds would be possible.
I'm not opposed to any feature request but what I am opposed to is prioritizing requests that only make things "easier" without making the synth a better musical instrument.
Sure if there were unlimited man power and man hours available for development then add all the requests but given that requests like wavetable import have never been implemented one could not be faulted for assuming that development time is not unlimited so must be used wisely to bring the greatest improvements to the largest segment of the user base (and potential user base). Perhaps the Spire user base is tilted more towards beginners and that's why A.I. patch generation was implemented so that trend may continue with the addition of more training wheel features.
It would appear that Spire has become more of a platform to sell A.I. generated presets so it's possible we will see no enhancements to its possible range of sounds. It's a great sounding synth as it is but as I've said before I am far more likely to reach for more feature rich synths that also sound great but have a wider range of possibilities that encourage creativity rather than stifle it.
In the end Reveal Sound will do what they think is best with Spire. We're just along for the ride so we'll see what destination they take us.
At any rate, I had time today to toss a thread grenade in here but I won't have time to engage in a running gun battle with the usual suspects so I won't read any responses.

When it comes to anything with delay/reverb and anything that can make phasey sounds, there are plenty of reasons to audition sounds you have previously make with FX off. If your workflow is always custom designing sounds on the spot while composing, that's legit.

What I like about Spire is its simplicity and lightweightness. Spire's presets are not too complex, so they are perfect for starting points. My production workflow goes as follows: making a sequence - playing it over rest of the mix - scrolling through presets - finding a fitting sound - editing it for my liking. As of now this doesn't quite work as I have to disable my reverb and delay sends. I think making things easier is what modern synths should focus on doing. Reveal Sound AI goes in that direction so I wish FX lock feature is also taken into consideration.
