Curious about the Mosky MARKSMAN, another pedal I don't need.
Looks like 4 Klons in 1......... £23.00 on Ebay

Looks cool. The Mosky pedals I've used were good. That's a better price than we're able to get in the US, too.

I've only used their Hand-Built pedals. From what I can tell, here's what the M-Series clones:The Noodlist wrote: Mon Feb 17, 2025 8:34 pm Their M Series seems to add multi modes in one pedal, which is always welcome.
Now, how do they sound?........

Tried a few pedals today. Albeit through a solid state Roland Cube 20XL
Behringer - TO800 - SF300 Didn't blow me away
EHX OpAmp Big Muff Maybe through the right amp, cab and guitar, both humbuckers and coil split used here.
Nux Steel Stringer Drive Decent, never sounded bad, a decent low drive.
Tone City Nobleman WTH, time flew by trying this, Cream, AC/DC, ZZ Top, Bryan Adams, you name it, it sounded excellent. wow, recommended. I'm glad I got this, it's a keeper.
on sale here £24.99
Any other budget recommendations? Looking for keepers.

Tube Screamers (like the TO800) are meant to overdrive tube amps. Even putting them through clean tube amps can be disappointing.
Fuzz pedals can sound good through both but a different amp might smooth them out better than a Cube would. Also, maybe try a Fuzz Face circuit instead, which neither of those are.
None of the SSS pedals I've tried sounded very good to me, even the boutique ones.
Yes, Nobels are consistently good with any amp.
BB Preamp, Duke of Tone, and Timmy circuits are great. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the Tone City versions you linked to before. Even if they're not 100% accurate, they'll probably sound good.

I thought I might have to fire up a tube combo.Uncle E wrote: Thu Feb 20, 2025 8:50 pm Tube Screamers (like the TO800) are meant to overdrive tube amps. Even putting them through clean tube amps can be disappointing.

Talking of tube combos, have you had any experience with a Fender Blues Deluxe?
I'm looking for those Fender cleans and considering getting one, one day. I saw the Blackstar TV-10A , digital reverb

Mr. Black Shepard's End. I ordered the regular one from Loopers Paradise in Germany but what I got was the limited Sub Zero version. A pleasant surprise!
This is not your typical flanger. It has 2 delay lines playing leap frog with each other*, thus creating the illusion of always going up or always going down.
Meanwhile the harmonics are making all kinds of movements on their own. It sounds as if there are multiple LFOs running at different speeds (which there aren't), each affecting a different frequency range. Crazy!
If needed the Shepard's End can do the jet plane thing but I prefer using this pedal as a very lush chorus.

* I am not sure if this is technically accurate but that is how I would describe it.

The Blues Deluxe and Blues Deville are almost the same amp. Main difference is the Deville is louder and has bigger speaker options, whereas I believe the Deluxe has only ever been offered with 1x12. Good clean channels, crappy drive channels but easy to mod. Just cut out some capacitors in the drive channel and you’ll have a second clean channel with a master volume. The Noodlist wrote: Thu Feb 20, 2025 9:11 pm Talking of tube combos, have you had any experience with a Fender Blues Deluxe?

When you say “the real deal”, maybe you’re thinking of a Deluxe Reverb? That’s a very different amp.

If you run tube amps, did you consider parametric EQ pedals? The Noodlist wrote: Thu Feb 20, 2025 8:16 pm Tried a few pedals today. Albeit through a solid state Roland Cube 20XL

- does sound boring doesn't it?
- but amazing what you can do with tube amps and parametric EQ
Look at Stone Deaf PDF-2 as an example?
- you can dial in so many tones from that
- and now a separate switch for fuzz as well, with gain
It just do lovely things to tone.
- it has a sound of it's own, not just eq
Ability to design what frequencies saturate tubes first
- that decides which harmonics are most prominent
- you choose how narrow frequency band is with a switch if 5 positions
- boost Height to boost half way boost or cut so a bit obvious at start
- then you sweep frequency and find different sweet spots
- then adjust Height again to final result
I first discovered the greatness with parametric EQ with Damage Control(today Strymon as I understand) and the Womanizer pedal.
- pre shaping of signal before tube with parametric eq
- then post eq bass and treble to the final tone
And have a couple of cheap Artec Parametric Eq too, there you can dial continuously the width/Q-value, but have to look out for clipping internally on those.
The Stone Deaf Pdf-2 the Height knob also adjust level out, so it does not clip, you just get greatness from pedal itself.
I don't use the proprietry expression pedal either, not needed.
Shows some fun you can have

I never thought of that, any good EQ pedals you can recommend which doesn't set me back too much? I thought I should get a compressor pedal as well. I had some good results using the UA Teletronix LA-2A plugin with plugin amps, and I'm considering getting the Universal Audio UAFX LA-2A pedal. Not sure how software works compared to actual gear and how comparable it is thoughlfm wrote: Fri Feb 21, 2025 5:37 am If you run tube amps, did you consider parametric EQ pedals?

UA frequently does monthly sales on pedals. You might want to wait a week.
EQ-200 and EQ2 are programmable and less noisy than the analog EQ’s, although people say the MXR is warmer sounding.

I got a 10 band EQ, gonna try it and a compressor in the loop and up front when I get round to getting a tube amp out. I use a small solid state amp for practice, size and simplicity. Roland Cube 20XL sounds decent when dirty. No comparison to my valve combos, cleans, anyway.lfm wrote: Fri Feb 21, 2025 5:37 am If you run tube amps, did you consider parametric EQ pedals?
