NI hasn't been working great for me. I liked using Maschine 1 vst plugin, but then when maschine 2 update came, it has been nightmare to try get working with the maschine 1 libraries or whatever. I haven't been fan of their plugin manager program (native access I believe it's called), I've had something installed but the program doesn't detect it, and also had too many problems with Massive X for it to be usable. Hmm... I guess NI was never meant for me. Too bad, because I kinda wanted to get komplete one day, but I don't know if it's worth it to have to deal with Native Access.

Still happily using Reaktor, factory synths like Steampipe and non factory like Razor, plus all kinds that i made, modifried, or just downloaded from the UL. Using Blocks, too, but not as much. I just stopped giving NI money years ago.
I use a lot of old stuff, Absynth, FM8, Tassman, Tera, Alchemy v1, Zebra. (and some newer stuff, too of course).

The logic of installation via Access is its own, but understandable. As for Komplete, I bought Collector's Edition exclusively for working on Maschine plus. The extensions are amazing, good quality, but unfortunately I just didn't have enough time to use it due to the large amount of work)

Native Instruments used to impress me, especially their effects, when I first started out with software synths and a DAW eleven years ago. For some reason their effects doesn't sound as impressive anymore,it's almost like they have never been updatet. Anyway, after I got a Universial Audio bundle with more than 50 plugins for $250 on sale, and traded in my Eventide plugins and $150 for Anthology XII, they are starting to sound meh, and I might as well uninstall them

I went through a kind of stage of frustration that N.I. was no longer competitive when I adored Absynth, Battery, FM7, Massive, etc. back in the early 2000s for feeling quite innovative, but I had to give up on them too after way over a decade of basically no movement but small effects plugins that are redundant to even what comes with Ableton now, and that are easier to work with and usually have more features.

Reaktor has always been way too expensive for me to even consider. I realise that it offers potentially excellent value for money but it's still a big up-front cost. As for NI overall, I don't have any issues with them. They offer some great stuff that's well worth having if you can get it when they are having a sale.

I've had that problem. I can't remember how I solved it but it was an easy fix. The only thing that annoys me about Native Access , and most other plugin managers, is how you need to constantly update the manager itself, every time you f**king use it. It has definitely improved over the years, though. e.g. You used to have to reinstall everything from scratch on a new computer, now you can copy all your content across and just re-link it to the product, which saves me a lot of time and bandwidth. I wish Ujam was the same, although their sample content tends to be a lot smaller, so it's less of an issue.

People seem to hold NI to a higher standard for some reason I don't quite understand. They aren't the greatest but they're not terrible, either. The stuff you can get for free in the entry-level tier of Komplete is absolutely amazing when you think about it. We got into NI via a Maschine Mikro purchase. The Mikro was on sale and it came with a mid-tier Komplete bundle that basically made the Mikro feel like it was being thrown in for free.

I also think people put far too much emphasis on developers, rather than on the products. I'll buy a good plugin from anyone, no matter their reputation (except for that guy who turned out to be a paedophile) if the price is right.

Ive long ago checked out of NI as a serious choice for my music, and I wont be looking back.

I really didnt need additional motivation to see them as an unwise long term investment the instant I learned about the private equity ghouls that took them years ago, but even after that their clumsy PR attempts, forum reboot and culture shift, customer service degradation, cheap sample instrument fixation, accident-prone Native Access, garbage maschine/mk3 DAW routing, failure to address long term issues(including the last bit), and less and less overall value in pretty much everything they do.... Im more than done.

I really dont even need to talk about it anymore, as my financial wounds from paying NI have long ago healed & my anger at how they abused my trust has just about burned itself out, and I am now in a much, much better place with my studio and musical life path. If I never see another thread about NI on KVR, I would be content.

This is the silliest thing I've read today. Shame on you. SHAME SHAME SHAME! Every single one of these is as good as anything.

I was experimenting a fair bit recently with Reaktor Kontour. What an absolute beast. It can go from mellow and ever-so-musical to brutal savagery in no time. It actually has to be dealt with very carefully. Extreme complexity, in the Stephan Schmitt stylee. Also see Reaktor Spark, which is also insane but more made to be a solo lead instrument, while Kontour is for outworld.

kids today think that when something has a few years on it it begins to sound different and stale: 'it's out of date'. "almost like they have never been updatet"/sic - in order to do what, keep up with fashion? "Its filters are no longer the best" - no concept of holistic or of design.

you see this shit all over KVR. Then there's this thread, where people are going to abandon what they have for ulterior reasons to do with business and society. My disappointment with the corporation Native Instruments having any real bearing on my musical life, I mean past dealing with its download app, would be stupid and self-defeating.

Why do people get all binary on everything? Do I wish Absynth was still developed? Sure. Can I basically do everything it did in MSoundfactory, and a lot more? Absolutely. I don't feel like I got ripped off any more than I feel I got ripped off when I bought a VW Golf GTI that I no longer have. They were great for their time, I used the hell out of them and moved on.

I still think all the Reaktor synths, factory and not, are great in their own ways, and have not really been superseded much. Blocks is still a great system, and when you add on the Toybox stuff, it really holds it's own among anything and sounds fantastic. As much as I dislike the UI, Massive X hasn't been equalled in the realm of analog modeled filters, filter FM and feedback, plus the semi modular flexibility of the routing is pretty unique. Put the effects in a feedback path? YES PLEASE! Damn them for never making it polyphonic aftertouch compatible, but I've yet to hear anything that comes close to it for aggressive polyphonic synth sounds. If they made a hardware version of it, they'd never stop talking about it on Gearspace.
