i saw this, thought it was cool,is there any open source ap that will let me use my controller as midi? do i need like bome or midi yoki or like do i just have to learn how to program.
I remember something 20 years ago that turned a wacom tablet into xy controller, no programing. so idk, having trouble searching for something. Seems cool to use all the joy sticks.

thanks guys

I don't know what you are looking at as I cannot open that page but Tobybear's MIDI Control Center works well for sending CC's or using a joystick thru it, also LFOs to send CC...

Also the old Microsoft Strategic Commander has axial left-right plus static arrow keys pushing it from base for-aft left-right as well as a buttload of shortcut keys you can program for anything on the QWERTY, compound as well (more than one key press)... I have three of those I got off ebay the old soft don't work anymore but a guy made a program so they will work on modern shit-

You can get 'em in mint shape for 15-20 bucks on ebay...

In a recent OS? You sure? You even know whether the OP is running Windows?
...no drivers for any current version of Windows. Was hard enough finding them for Win7 x64. Dont think they ever existed for OSX, almost certainly not going to work on any OSX that came out in the last decade. Also the old Microsoft Strategic Commander has

There are a lot more hardware projects doing that than software these days, I suspect. Fairly trivial with a teensy or arduino etcskychance wrote: Sun Feb 23, 2025 12:08 am https://www.instagram.com/user.friendly.sounds/

You talking Mac or Windows? What OS version? Would help with folk not making assumptions that you can run some 32-bit windows-only app from 15+ years ago.

TouchOSC can process game controller inputs into OSC or MIDI, though it's not its primary function by any means so it's probably overkill and perhaps a bit unwieldy if that's all you're doing with it. It works on Windows, Mac, and Linux and gets regular updates. There's definitely a steep learning curve though if you're not familiar with the software. The top comment in this reddit post is a decent place to start for gamepad stuff, assuming you've grasped the basics of TouchOSC in general.
It is not open source though, and while the demo has no restrictions besides a nag screen on launch, a license is $25.

Yeah like I'm trying to relearn everything, I am running both, I just want to make my set up portable and interesting, something I can walk around with, I used to use energyxt but it keeps crashing. The lfos in ableton suck up the CPU,

Most of the joystick to midi stuff is old 32 bit stuff, so you should look for that. 64 stuff is made by robots, its not really any good.
Synthedit has joystick modules, I've made a bunch of joystick to note or cc in every way. I'd just do it yourself, we need more 32 bit freeware to drown out the robot choir.
