Hello, I am very interested in learning how to use a synthesizer but I don't know what synth is best for learning. I don't want to buy a new plugin right now so here's a little list of some of the synthesizers I own:
-All synths from FL Studio Producer Edition
-Massive
-Massive X
-Monark (Reaktor 6)
-Super 8 (Reaktor 6)
Thank You.

If you go with the OG Massive, you're much more likely to find free tutorials on Youtube.

https://www.syntorial.com/ should be ideal for starters.

As suggested Syntorial is made for what you're asking for. Another synth which I personally found very useful for learning, as you can see everything going on as you change the different parameters is https://vital.audio/
I would start with Syntorial for learning the most basic stuff, and then go to Vital for learning more about modulation of the different parts of the synth. As it is very visual you can see what is going on as you change the parameters. Some people find it a tad cold, it's free though

No nono. I've been doing this probably before you were born. Massive and Massive X are NOT the synths you want to learn basic synth programming with. Monark and Super 8 are much more basic synth architecture.

Since I was born before you, also no to Massive X & Vital and a hearty yes to Monark & Super 8. Never tried the Syntorial, but I believe there is also a basic synth with that one.

Vital, extremely visual and intuitive, huge community so lots of youtube tutorials and tips for it. A must for beginners, and it's free!

FL Studio forums have a lot of information, you already have various FL synths
Fruity Granulizer is a sample based plugin that utilizes the granular synthesis.
Harmon a additive / subtractive synthesizer,
Learn what you have to start.
But YouTube videos and websites about synth types and what it all means, learning what a LFO affects things like that, etc.
This a decent starting point, there are many mannny websites and paid sites https://synthesizeracademy.com/

Absolutely, start with Monark for the absolute basics, oscillators, filtering and simple envelopes. Then apply that to Super8 which is the same structure effectively with more options.osiris wrote: Sun Feb 23, 2025 2:42 pm No nono. I've been doing this probably before you were born. Then think about he Massives though Vital is a great suggestion as has visual envelopes, modulators etc.

You could try Kepler (included in FL Studio). Good basic synth. But Monark is better. And Super8 is better too. Also among FL Studio plugins you can find 3Osc, SimSynth and MiniSynth. They all are a basic synths and a good starting point.

Basic by Audio Damage is a subtractive synth, released as a learning synth for beginners. Sounds decent tho' ... very "analog". It's now a legacy product and free to download. https://www.audiodamage.com/pages/free-and-legacy

I think Vital would be very difficult for someone starting out. I've had Massive X a week and am still figuring it out. (The manual is 150 pages long and why is there no Step Sequencer)

Just go for this, and it has lessons for some plugins too.
But once you learn the basics, and some more, you will be using any synth fast.
