A new Erae touch is in the works. The main highlights (according to Namm vid) are:
- Larger dynamic range for pressure
- New interchangeable surface types (black silicon or fabric)
- Improved sensitivity
- Dedicated button switches
- New LCD
- Embedded looper allowing for easy looping and offering quantization options
- Connectivity options such as multiple CV gates out and two MIDI outs for analog synths

After having to have my Erae I replaced three times I've decided to pass up on this one, even if it REALLY is better.

I'll wait for the reviews, and for user experiences. Mine was a farking headache, differences in sensitivity, dead zones, you name it. I still have the 3rd replacement, but I hardly use it for fear it will eventually fail just from normal use. That shit must be ultra sensitive and prone to damage.

But it's a wonderful instrument, IF you got a good one. I suspect the II version will be a lot better but...I won't be buying it because release is scheduled for September. Nah, I'll just wait for a year and see how it pans out and if they go bust (as they could in this unstable economy) then I haven't lost anything if something goes wrong.

Top notch!

My Erae Touch 2 is working great, I am very happy with it.
Yes, I only have it for about 25 days, but it seems really well-made and robust.

I really like mine and it fills a huge role in my studio. The skin I got was defective and they are replacing it and the EraeLab software has been extremely buggy. Extremely. At least I hope it's the software and not my hardware unit. In any case, there are problems but I have hopes they'll be sorted out in time.

Which OS are you using it on?

I love my Erae Touch 2, which arrived a few days ago. The Bitwig script does not work as expected, but with the LinnStrument script I get what I need…
Erae Touch II.jpg
This is a LinnStrument Layout, which spans more than 7 octaves and has 10 faders on the upper left corner and key switches in the lower right corner…
I switched to the stiffer surface pretty directly and its so much better than the soft one. It has the same feeling as my LinnStrument. And other than the first Erae touch, its resolution is sufficient for the LinnStrument size Keygrid. And also it can be powered by my Macbook directly, no need for an extra power supply...

I am more than happy...

I'm curious where you got the Linnstrument script please?

I am less than happy now as it turns out. I was having all kinds of trouble and had to send mine in and the sensor board was defective. Instead of sending me a new one, they repaired it and have sent it back to me. So basically I'm left feeling like I got a B-stock unit for full price and 6 weeks of not being able to use it. It's been in the mail for almost 2 weeks now and still no arrival date. Also, the playing surface has clumps and creases in it. I feel like I got a lemon and somehow the quality control was off that day. I feel very disappointed by this whole situation. They should have just sent me a new one while I was returning the defective unit. ugh.

Sorry to hear that. Mine is flawless, and there are many positive reports here and elsewhere, so I guess you really got a lemon. The only issue I have with it is the software with those tiny tiny, I mean: really tiny! symbols and letters. Seems to be designed by somebody who wears super-magnifying glasses... Beyond that, it feels rock solid, and very playable. I can only imagine that they do not have many left from the first run, so maybe that's why they repair instead of sending you a new one (and I guess that the company is relatively small, so every defective unit hurts)? Anyway, good luck, and I hope you will finally end up with a working unit. :tu:

I made it myself in the editor... Its basically the Keygrid with my own settings like a tritone layout and only C and A keys coloured. I had to jump through some hoops to light it the way I want, because there is no key offset for the left lowest key, instead that key defines the root of the scale, which I prefer to ignore anyway...

I really appreciate this! You bring up some good points. It is good to hear that there are generally good reports!!

Thank you so much and glad yours is doing well. I hadn't noticed the tiny letters and symbols but I'm sure I will cause I generally have a difficult time with that.

Interesting. I was hoping to make something like that myself! Thanks!

care to share the lay-out?

the Erae 2 is my first Erae, so learning it...
firmware 1.0.7 seems for me quite stable, but full velocity requires still some force, too much... pressure is sensitive as....

i use the fabric skin, but glue is letting go, or how do you say it.... a warranty thing...

i shall try the silicon skin... but me like the fabric skin...

cv i can't check, yet. but overall, quite impressive.

use it next to a Push 3, 2 x Seabord Block + 2 x Lightpad M block.

and in some months the Roli Piano + Airwave will arrive...

for me i think a great setup. all for different kind of expressions... and al together...

the Erae 2 plays so smooth... another kind of playing that is why i prefer the fabric skin..
because the silicon skin will feel like Push 3 in my instance...

the looper is fun.... but more 'patterns' would make it really great for me...

workflow, with all the dedicated buttons, the small screen, the encoder. fast working with concentration...
