Raise your hand if you receive dividends from Francisco Partners. :D

No, but seriously its hard to hear people narrating the NI debacle as if its just some silly kids who want new shiny toys every 6 months-- lol as if that is not the PRECISE demographic NI has pivoted to being mainly concerned about in the last 2 years anyway. I mean is that really crediting or discrediting their new brand thing they are doing? Hard to tell.

Meanwhile I dont see any kids, just studio musicians who are tired and tired of wasting money. The kids are all eating tide pods, and using "AI" to make "music" with what's left, so I think we missed them with this.

The waste of money is secondary to the waste of time spent. And what's not wasted as a direct result of their shenanigans is exasperated by scanning threads like these hoping for work arounds to them.

Reaktor still works , sounds fantastic and remains a dsp playground for anyone who's willing to delve deep into it .
Development is on hold true but it's not abandoned .
All this moaning is ridiculous , buy a sample pack and gtfo :tu:

Reaktor is still decent, yep, and so is MassiveX, and all the critiques of NI are valid as well. Sorry, by critiques I meant - "the ridiculous moaning".

Its nice when we describe legitimately frustrated customers as "ridiculous" or "kids" as a way of discrediting their anger. This always helps settle those customers down, and creates harmony and camaraderie among fellow musicians in the music space. Yeah just buy a packy pack and be quiet. Sure thing.

NI was slow to create Apple Silicon Native versions of their stuff. So when I switched to an AS computer, I didn't install anything from NI. After a while I didn't miss it so have never bothered to install anything from NI since.

NI's DSP is top notch, but they are quite out of date on the infrastructure that contains it. They don't make the cut.

Perhaps it is just an effective way of classifying their anger, as a grown-up would deal with it much better than some of you are? I mean, I have plenty of NI stuff and I have no idea why anyone is frustrated or angry with NI. They are a big company with hundreds of thousands of customers all over the world, they aren't your personal servants, they're not there to do precisely what you want of them. You can whinge and whine all you like, the only thing they will notice or care about is if their revenue drops off, so vote with your feet if you're not happy. If you're not happy with them, put up with it or move on.

Maybe if you don't care so much about sound quality. Every year, when Arturia offer a free upgrade, I install it and play around with it for a while but it always feels like it's missing that last tiny degree of polish to its sound, like a lot of Arturia synths. You may not have to use Native Access but you will have to deal with Arturia Software Centre, which is worse. It's still preferable to downloading individual installers but it's not as slick as Native Access.

Best NI synth or best synth overall? If it's NI, you'd have to say Massive X (even though I've never so much as listened to demos). If you're talking overall, I'd suggest any of DUNE, DS-Thorn or Spire for modern styles or Diva if you're into the retro schizz. There are synths like Avenger, Falcon and Omnisphere that offer more functionality but they are a lot more expensive and you probably wouldn't need much of the extra stuff they offer. I think DUNE-Thorn-Spire-Diva is the sweet spot for great sounding instruments with plenty of versatility. Or if you want something a bit out of left-field, Arturia's Analog Lab offers a lot of sounds, with limited tweaking abilities, for not a lot of money.
