List of MPE Hardware Synthesizers

Did you get some confirmation regarding Zynthian? As far as I know there is no planned work for implementing MPE support. Just discussions in the forum.

Has anyone managed to pulled off something similar?

Zynthian is based on a Raspberry Pi 5 and supports Surge XT:

There have been recent discussion about MPE support for Zynthian:

Zynthian currently doesn’t support MPE but it’s a long awaited feature we would like to implement. Indeed, the internals are ready for it.

FYI, zynthian already includes a MPE capable synthesizer, Surge XT, but It can’t be used for MPE until chains can listen several MIDI channels.

Indeed Surge XT has been choosed by Roger Linn as the official synth for his LinnStrument:

Please, open a feature request and i will prioritize this as soon we land current opened tasks. Perhaps we could have basic MPE support by 2025’s springtime.

I wouldn't include it in the list until there is at least concrete plans for it. A written feature request is just a wish. If you want to keep it in the list then maybe "feature requested", or "discussed in community"?

Okay, well there is another recent quote that contradicts the previous one:

• MPE: MIDI Polyphonic Expression - Software - Zynthian Discourse

Zynthian supports MPE, e.g. adding Surge-XT to a chain with “ALL MIDI Channels” enabled and enable MPE from VNC. MPE configuration does not seem to be exposed as a parameter so is not controlled by zynthian UI but is saved with the preset so enabling MPE then saving as a new preset will allow access. (The opposite is not true! So once a preset is loaded with MPE enabled, MPE remains enabled when other presets are loaded.) Surge-XT uses MIDI channel 1 as its global channel so MPE fun starts at MIDI channel 2.

GS Music just released another MPE synth, the Bree6:

Also, Dreadbox's Murmux Adept was a limited run. It should be marked as discontinued, as they all sold off pretty quickly.
