these are a typical user-errors - just like the the things Bones mentioned - e.g. he complains that you have to use a keyboard shortcut for inserting notes in the piano-roll although you only need to double-click.

There are two types of complaining users:

Those who know the app too good and those who know the app not good enough.

Sadly the latter ones are usually much noisier than those who belong to the first category.

How do you enter notes without doing key-combos? :)

Jens, BONES is a new user that has a seriously long experience using a different host that deviates in many ways from what he was used to..

Tolerance over temporary misunderstandings is way better than contempt..

Besides, that kind of behavior's MY REALM, eh..?

:D

just as I wrote: simply double-click in the piano-roll... :-)

I have an impossibly hard time believing that this actually needs to even be said..

but who am I?

I agree - double-clicking would be the first thing I'd try with a new sequencer... :?

Right on. There's no escaping the fact that *both* double-clicking and alt-clicking notes in are ridiculously clumsy when compared to a simple single-click...

Jens, you may be right that some users haven't learned their app well enough; however, that's the complaint-- not that the app doesn't do what the user is asking it to do, but that the user doesn't want to have to spend hours and hours to do something that should be fairly intuitive.

I don't know about the MIDI thing, but I can tell you that I don't really WANT to spend hours learning how to record something when it seems to me that pressing "record" should do the trick.

Now, I guess it's helpful to remember (before flaming me!):

-I never whine about eXT, since I'm happy with using it to the extent I know how to use it
-I love eXT, appreciate Jorgen's work, and recommend eXT to all kinds of people. ;)

I suspect there's freeware out there that will allow any ol' mouse to behave similarly on demand.

who thinks a simple double-click is too much of a hassle imo shouldn't be let near any computer at all...

I disagree Jens. I recently used the eXT seq and this behaviour bothered me too. Slightly, that is.

Greg

pressing record does the trick for me.

Not everyone prefers the same brand of tea.

I'm having a music-project together with a friend of mine. He's a cool-edit addict.

I could never persuade him to use Tracktion. He thinks it's counter-intuitive.

A few minutes after I introduced eXT to him he agreed to register it and work with it. :D
