I see it went down during my "taking a break from music" years. I'd never heard it mentioned before.

I read the article. This is one of those examples where there was unintentional, unconscious culture of systemic racism within the company, just like ALL OVER THE WORLD, an employee made a public post on LinkedIn calling out the company- THREE YEARS LATER- and then the company CEO carefully crafted a mea culpa response owning the entire thing. And of course, it wasn't enough. The parties who felt subjected to racism demanded an apology- they got it- and then they refused to accept it. You just can't win.parma wrote: Sat Mar 01, 2025 3:10 am https://mixmag.net/read/native-instrume ... ponse-news

From the article it seems like multiple people came out and said that racism and abuse were common at one point, and employees were quitting over it. They all mention that this was all being pointed out internally but nothing was being done about it.oobesan wrote: Sat Mar 01, 2025 4:36 pmI read the article. The article also mentions that they weren't demanding only an apology, they had specific questions and concerns that were not addressed in a vague apology, and they outlined a number of suggestions for actions to take accountability and improve the work environment at NI. So yeah, you "can't win" if instead of addressing the concerns people have, you just give an apology and say you'll donate to charity. It's not like they just wanted an apology and then changed their minds, they point out that NI's response is a good first step but still glosses over many of their concerns and suggestions to address them.
