Question. I reached out to Fabfilter but haven't heard back yet. This upgrade is cheaper than upgrading through Fabfilter. Is Plugin Boutique a legit upgrade? Just wanted to ask here to see if anyone else has used them for an upgrade. I like that they have Klarna as well to space out the payments.

For people owning multiple Fabfilter plugins it‘s usually cheaper to buy from Fabfilter directly. For each Fabfilter plugin you own, you‘ll get a discount.TheD20 wrote: Fri Dec 27, 2024 6:11 pm This upgrade is cheaper than upgrading through Fabfilter. Is Plugin Boutique a legit upgrade?
Plugin Boutique is legit, they sometimes have very good sales!

As far as I know, all that PB sells is legit.TheD20 wrote: Fri Dec 27, 2024 6:11 pm Question. I reached out to Fabfilter but haven't heard back yet. It happens often that there are more convenient offers than those on the official developer websites.

reporting in to say that this has become one of my favorite plugins. I was trolling a bit a few weeks ago but it's a bit of a game changer for me. ProQ3 was already basically this good but the small added features put it over the finish line for me to finally match the hype (but realistically it's largely because I am only starting to understand how good it is).
I think the "channel strip" feature makes it a 10/10 basically a masterpiece.
actually the dynamic compression is pretty much fine, attack and release controls put it over the edge.

FWIW, Best Service has a good upgrade price; $75 if you don't have to pay taxes. I bought my upgrade from them.

FabFilter Pro-Q 4.02 now available
Besides bug fixes and improvements, this update introduces a new per-band Spectral Tilt option. If enabled on a spectral band, a tilt of 3 dB/oct is applied to the input spectrum before it is used to trigger the spectral dynamics processing. This lets higher frequencies trigger slightly more than lower frequencies, which helps to get more natural sounding results. Release notes.
Pro-Q 3 updated
To make it easier to migrate sessions from Pro-Q 3 to Pro-Q 4, we have released a new Pro-Q 3.27 version. You can now right-click the presets button in Pro-Q 3 to copy the current settings to the clipboard. You can then paste this into any Pro-Q 4 instance using the Paste button in the preset browser.

Fabfilter are the best...
Ok, I didn't update yet Pro-Q3 to Pro-Q4, but I'll do it soon.
This new copy-paste feature is very clever, and I'd like to have this on many more plugins I use (especially those that get one upgrade each year, like NI Kontakt)

Pro-Q4 is interesting. Overall I like the update and the expanded dynamics are cool. However, I find it frustratingly close to awesome but not quite there. A couple more features and you could ditch Pro-MB, but alas it's missing things like lookahead, knee, and I guess a crossover band option. The spectral is cool but it's not advanced enough to replace soothe, really just a nice helper tool every now and then.
If they took dynamics and spectral to the next level in Pro-Q5 it could become incredible.
