Hello everyone, I would like to collectively make this post a boost for imagination. What are the most creative plugins and in what way (maybe unconventional) can they be used. I'll start: PA SpecOps i usually used it with its simplest presets, such as lowering or raising octaves, for reverbs or delays on the insert channel. That difference sounds great, enriching the appareance, and also helps with frequency unmasking. But with its more complex presets, you can use as well a delay and with some automation, turn simple sounds into something quite abstract, psychedelic and very attractive; love the results! Quite modern and creative.

A 2nd recommendation: GRM has good creative plugins, but the two that I use the most are Spaces 3D to accommodate things and be able to add more elements and play with automations, and the other one is Evolution, which can make the sounds more atmospherical by inserting it directly, but with a reverb it greatly enriches the texture of it, I love it too!

Which plugins do you recommend and in what unexplored ways could they be used?

A plugin is never Creative. That is marketing speak. Commonly, to cover that the product is deeply flawed but covers that with lots of silly DIFY (Do It FOR You) rubbish, which is the opposite of creativity as you create nothing, merely apply the one-tick pony.

The single effect with the most creative potential is a well-designed Delay/Echo. It helps if it can be modulated, allows for very short times, lets you Breakout, and has at least basic tone controls on-board. For example, I can do more with this puppy than many stock units that look fancier but lack proper usability (and lock to BPM unghhh). I have others that focus a bit in particular directions like Hz Dealy, Hz Multiplier, Hz Box, Tape Deco, Rev-T1, R3-500...

Note how this can morph between chorus, slapback, echo, out to reverb with the one box.

Permut8 by Sonic Charge and Other Desert Cities by Audio Damage are two very special delay plugins. They are both far more than just delays :)

Plug data is the most creative, but you need your own creativity by creating your own patches…

Infiltrator - put it on anything and make mudpies

It's been covered before on the forum, but I think Sloom by Anemond is an excellent extreme-stretcher that's capable of creating some very haunting atmospheres and textures. It's really cool for experimenting with vocals and is worth a look if you're into soundscapes or experimental music in general. https://anemond.net/sloom/

NI Molekular pretty cool.

Seconding both Molekular and Specops, although the latter is always but a few knob turns away from smeary noise. Also short out to Silo for granular weirdness. Pretty confusing to use and I can't say I truly get what much of it actually does but even just randomly doing stuff can yield interesting things.

Using audio into Reaktor Prism does some cool stuff as well. I've been making some long 1 shot sounds using whatever as an impulse, bouncing it down to audio and then throwing it through a convolution reverb over the same source material. Again, often incoherent messiness but great for mudpies and stuff

The new MA effect Waveshifter is also nice. There are just heaps of these interesting sound destroyers out there these days.
