Low CPU recommendation? Freeze/bounce your tracks after recording.

I use the native guitar amp sim in my daw while tracking which actually sounds great, but I usually switch it out for something else after. I just get the basic vibe with something like a mesa rectifier or jcm type emulation from the stock one, which is low latency/cpu, and worry about dialing it in later.

For me TH-U with any rig on it (rather than sims) is the king. 1% cpu in my 10 year old system (even if you add pedals and FX racks to the chain).

Airwindows GrindAmp is one of my faves. Incredibly simple, quite unique sound and unbelievably light on CPU.
