That Demonfx Call-76 looks pretty awesome.
Do you have any experience with DemonFX pedals, how they sound, quality and such? They sure look the part, I'm a tad sceptical about the quality though. Especially since it seems you can only get them, over here at least, from chinese web shops of poor reputation

The Behringer seems to be discontinued. Used LM-2B pedals sells for prices which included custom fees and VAT would make getting the Boss pedal new in a Norwegian shop cheaper

The Demonfx Dual Gun is the one I see people talk about a lot. It's super popular on the guitar forums. I ordered their Golden Rat pedal because I'm curious if the LM308 opamp it claims to have sounds like my vintage Rat pedals.

The Behringer CS400 (Boss) and CL9 (Ibanez) are $25 on Amazon over here.

Add a $50-60 customs fee, 25% VAT and shipping, and it's at least $100. The Boss LMB-3 is about $115 new in Norway

I just realised I have to pay VAT and shipping from the chinese web shop of poor reputation as well, so the DemonFX pedals are not as cheap as I first got the impression of neither

Definitely better to get a real Boss than pay the same price for a knockoff. Plus, if you get one there, you can try it against the other versions.

Where in Norway are you? My father is from Bergen and I went to school in Voss, and I have lots of family in Oslo.

I live in Bergen, and I'm born in and grew up in Oslo :)

Pulled the trigger on 3 Blackstar pedals, ordered an extra boost by mistake, no problem, it'll save as new. £59.99 NOS as mentioned below

Wanted a 335 ish semi with humbuckers without paying that sort of price, found a used D’Angelico SS Premier for under £300 that I’m hoping scratches that itch for a bit.
I really like the only other guitar of theirs I own, a 12-string Fulton Premier acoustic with a wonderfully playable neck.

Think that purchase has flipped me into double figures. Time for another stand I guess.

I know the headstock shape is pretty marmite, but I kind of like it, reminds me of stag beetles.

Will be a brown burst like this one…

Picked up another Emperor Regent. The other two I owned sounded stringy and lacked the fullness that I like in a jazz guitar, plus they fed back too easily. This one has been upgraded with a P-90 and a better tailpiece, both of which help with those issues:

I have listened to this several times now (it piques my interest every time I check this thread) and it’s a very cool concept, but does anyone else hear what I have decided is possibly intermodulation distortion — like an always present rumble when sound is produced?

If it is there I suppose it would be caused by the latency between the actual string vibration and the digitally processed sound from the built in body speakers?

Thinking about it, I’m not sure that could ever be compensated for in such a design, which is a shame since it is so cool otherwise. Maybe if the top speaker was reproducing analog dry through (which could be layered with digitally processed wet effects I suppose, as long as the processed fx were adjusted to not cause beating) and the speaker driving the back was the processed wet signal only (again, adjusted delay/phase to not cause beating).

So after living with it for a while. I really don't consider 23 inch scale and 19 frets I would argue that it's not full scale. I kind of really wish it would be 22 frets.

The action relatively low and playable though I wish the frets were higher. The first few weeks as I'm unaccustomed to the neck made me sound amateur at best I'd play it for awhile and quickly grab something else. My Godin Multilac played a lot easier. The Multilac has a thin wide neck. Still after playing it everyday I'm adapting my technique. I've yet to use the looper pedal board but I do make use of the built in generic drum patterns.

(t still remains my couch/balcony guitar and sometimes I even bring it to work and play about an hour before I start. It's bringing back a lot of memories of acoustic "folk/rock" songs I'd long ago forgotten.

Last year I built a Tele partscaster. I wanted single coils and i wanted noiseless.
After too much time wasted on researching pickups, i ended up with EMG T-set.
I've caught myself barely using any other guitar than the EMG equipped one, and am now in the process of EMG-ising most of my guitars.

I was very much against EMGs my whole life, and it was totally unfair. They're the best f**king pickups i've ever tried. (i haven't tried fluence yet, but i don't plan to throw that much money into it, so i won't for a while)

Yes, agreed, EMG's are great. I love how the sound stays the same when you turn down the volume. I don't always love how they change the sound of fuzz pedals but sometimes it's nice.

I love the headstock.

D'angelico has been owned in name for a few years now. It used to be owned by GHS (the guitar string company that actually makes strings for other brands.

For a time during the GHS period the name brand was farmed out to Vesta (fire) which is mostly remembered for DJ equipment but prior had been known for oddball guitars with headstocks similar to Peavy.

The John D'angelico ones which were the original were highly prized for their ornate designs and stunning sounds. All designed and crafted by JD himself and a few luthiers that had worked under him which they later parlayed into their own novelty hand crafted archtops. D'aquisto come to mind but It's been so long I've forgotten how or when I came by those. One of the last guitars built at D'angelico's workshop was for a young George Benson. Numerous other big name jazz guitarists paid big bucks and waited a year for one of these fine guitars to be finished. Granted they all had contracts with bigger brand names (Gibson/Ibanez) that precluded the artists from being seen with a D'angelico guitar. They were art guitars and they were often recording session guitars though rarely did photos show up. Not so in magazines nor tv recordings/ touring contracts.
When you hold that guitar in your hands remember there is a legacy of finely crafted art deco master built design that is prevalent in it. Play it with the pride it deserves.

Four decades after I started playing guitar just ordered my first pedalboard.
Went for a Fender medium board and LVL 8 PSU combo.
Up to now I’ve been putting up with a few pedals with their own power but time has come to tidy it up. Mainly because I want to use a looper and the in the box software options are pretty fiddly.
All my pedals are modulation based, phasers, delays and reverbs so I am also on the lookout for pedals with decent poke to go with them, Hoof v2 tempts me. Anyone got any recommendations for fuzz/OD/distortion that won’t break the bank? I like the Sonic Youth into shoegaze type OD sounds rather than metal.

Edit: scrub that, I’ve ordered a JHS Packrat and a Behringer Centaur (Klon clone), that should give it a bit of extra welly.

Edit 2: Also now a Polytune 3 Mini tuner and a used Boss FV30H volume pedal.
Wasn’t that bothered about a tuner as I’ll be going into my DAW but read that buffered ones help avoid tone suck from passive volume pedals so probably a good idea.

Edit 3: Everything has arrived except the Fender PSU was faulty so waiting on another to arrive. In the meantime been auditioning the pedals separately and the B Centaur is a quality unit, really adds special sauce especially just before a bare bones DAW amp emulation plugin like the Roland Cloud JC120 I used it with.
