A new build with lots of new features is now available for betatesting. it's VST3/mac only today. AudioUnit and Windows build need a few more days.

what's new in REVERSIDE 0.9.2 build 280:
===================================
- ER engine: new controls to fine-tune position
- ER engine: geometry panning. it can be used to position sound in a virtual space
- Diffusers: mix controls with pan control for ER
- LR Diffuser can now be used standalone
- REV Engine: Improved envelope controls that add flexibility to the envelope shape
- REV Engine: Rev Density panning
- Comprehensive Mid/Side processing modes separately for ER and LR
- Gain and Delay based Pans
- Mat/Dcy filters: band gains can be independently panned
- Mat/Dcy filters: follow modes
- EQ: separate ER and LR EQs with 6 filter types
- Lots of internal improvements to reverb engines
- 20+ preset sub-types
- UI: Main/Dashboard page (not fully finished yet though)
- UI: Param Lock Sets. Sets can be stored as presets
- UI: UI Localization support via editable yaml files
- UI: Comprehensive UI color scheme editor
- UI: font sub sets
- UI: Window Scale Option Menu (for AudioUnit)
- UI: Plug-in now auto-scales the window on first loading
- UI: Smooth Color Transitions with adjustable time

So now this version is feature-complete :-)
UI still needs some more work and adjustments.

What's cool about this version is that it allows to create a whole new universe of spatial effects due to easy to use independent control over L/R reverbs (reverb time, density, filter gains, envelopes etc), positioning in a virtual room and new Mid-Side processing modes).

And to some extent this version can be used as a sound positioning tool.

Is Mac Intel supported nowadays?

Post

I'll try to make it work with intel mac systems later but generally supporting old mac intel based system is becoming harder

You gotta consider it though. Here's why: when 2CAudio dropped support, there were many people with intel running 2CAudio licenses. We've been in the lurch every since. Going to the trouble and expense of making them Intel compatible will migrate more customers to your current platform. If you don't support intel, many will abandon. It might even be worth having separate version under the hood for intel. Then you can do all kinds of things with upgrade incentives and sales. Over time more people will migrate. This will help with cash flow and have a positive impact on your brand. Abandoning intel customers will only be bad for the business. So weigh the costs. When you have an intel candidate I can test 2010 macpro 12-core macOS12. Let's go!

Doesn't seem worth it to invest development time into a dead end. The number of intel Mac users is steadily going down, and soon, the latest MacOS will only support Apple Silicon which will push the number down faster.

Not to mention how many of them turn into literal door stops.

I was looking for xeon servers the other day on the local craigslist and was blown away by the number of cheap xeon powermacs at giveaway prices. No, I wasn't interested, but, it's dead.

There are tons of intel macs in use for music with 2C software on them. A fast i7 or Xeon from the day is still a formidable machine for music production. It would be a mistake to exclude them.

I agree they're a formidable machine. I do believe they should be networked with whatever is next in the evolution. I don't believe it's in a developers best interest to keep up a technical debt for them though. Just don't poison pill them like some developers are doing by making sure they won't install or run at our own discretion without support.

It comes down to the cost of building and maintaining for Intel on macOS. Most plugin companies are stll supporting Intel and older macOS so it doesnt appear to be a big issue. For a new plugin dev it would require some strategic thinking to also build for Intel mac. Considering the still wide support for Intel with plugins, there is some evidence its a better business decision to support than not. But whatever. If no intel then it just means the dev loses out on that customer base. I think intel use is still significant so its probably worth looking at.

Hi Denis,
Where can I download this?
The only link I have (to the google drive) takes me to the Sept 2024 one.
I can't get on to devproaudio.com - SSL errors.
