In the new guitarwold there is a magazine on the making of pantera's
cowboys from hell.Vinnie said that they would use eq in a old mci console
to cut 1.2khz.The exact console was not specified, nor was the eq bandwidth.
Also : What is your favorite eq for heavy giutar? What is your stragy for guitar eq? Where do your guitars sit in the mix relative to odbfs? Some guitar
levels on comercial cds are at -3dbfs.
Thanks Bill.
p.s.I'm using clean samples with amp sims and distorted guitar samples
from ministry of rock and vienna overdrive?

Not sure, but you can still buy used MCI consoles here.

CDSoundMaster - MCI JH 536 library for Nebula may be the closest to the real thing :)

looks like EQ is not included, though ...

The UAD Helios has a very sweet hi filter but there is some contention about the low frequency response. UA need to expand this EQ plug into a full blown Type 69 channelstrip.

PSP McQ

If you think that a particular eq plugin will give you "that" sound you will be sorely disappointed. Save you time, money and effort and use what you alread have. Just about anything is more important than a particular eq plugin.

If you absolutely "need" a new eq plugin just get Fabfilter Pro-Q and learn it inside out until you can use it in your sleep.
