Very cool Speed, great idea, looks very swish.
One comment and its not really anything to do with the service but the design of the page - I usually have my monitor quite 'dark' to rest my eyes and the dark scheme of your page would be difficult to read if the sun was shining, thats all
But looks great apart from that. So would this be something that people would link to from their own audioshots page, or is it to be advertised in other places
Best of luck with it

Hi! Jim,
Many thanks for your feedback
, I will be putting a lighter layout in place that the visitor to the site can select if they find the current layout too dark later this week
AudioShots is a news site for the hosted artists of AudioShot. So that’s its primary function – However The virtual Cd can also list albums that are created by artists hosted on other sites at a small cost per album.
More details on this link – plus I will expand this once the Classic Virtual Label news is announced.
http://audioshots.com/index.php?option= ... 4&Itemid=2
There is a lot to do on the site yet though
Hopefully this CD listing will help support the artists featured.
Best regards,
Spe3d

Does look good, the extremely low prices are devaluating the music though in my opinion.

9 euros for a real CD (including shipping at that) is too low, as well. You have a hard time finding a good meal for that price, and that takes way less time to make than a piece of music.

Hey Spe3d,
Looks like a great service...
Do you have plans to get your payed downloads registered with the OCC (Official Chart Company). I know some independent music web-sites do now do this... (www.karamdownload.com, www.bleep.com being two). If you do this it could mean that people will be able to enter the Uk charts ... especially now as download sales has for the first time overtaken singles.
You can find out more at www.theofficialcharts.com. You might discount it... but it's something that I think might add a bit of fun and prestige to your service.
Personally I'm looking forward to seeing a KvR artist on Top of the Pops..
Ben

Great job Spe3D.
Now if only I had a Cd to sell
9 euro/$10 is the price a cd should be, and that is a great call in my humble opinion. It is an appropriate price for a Cd coming from an independent artist.

I think it’s a really difficult to put a value on music, because in reality no matter how much is in now way close to the amount of work and love the artist has put into the work.
I mean just one track, the first thought and feeling, to laying the track down into a world of sense for others to listen to and understand, its without borders when carefully selected instruments are used and mixed then mastered to be played well.
Now an album is a snapshot of that artists work, it’s a statement that says, ‘look and listen, this is me now, this is where I am now and my direction for the future’ the album is an offering of many many hours, days weeks and even years of work.
Then you have the artwork for the covers, again the artist putting a visual touch to the content of the album.
And just how do you put a price on something so involved, so detailed?
The simple answer is you can’t, not realistically.
The price shown, if purchased, is a gesture to the artist, a form of appreciation, it’s a chance to support the artist, by many, of almost any pocket, and if there is no money to be found, what would be worth so much is feedback for the tracks that are listed – better yet buy the albums, buy more than one even, and give feedback to the artist too.
However I have now placed a poll on the front of the page at http://audioshots.com to see what most feel could be a better price to offer the Virtual CD at.
The poll is open to all, just two clicks, select a price and press the submit.
Best regards,
Peter

Many thanks for your feedback, I think I covered this in another thread about the charts.
Where would you rather be featured? On Top of the Pops or playing live with Holland?
There is a lot to do on the site yet, I think it will have a certain prestige of its own for sure though, maybe even be an eye opener.

Peter

Hey! Pheeleep,
Thank you,
Not just CD’s I will be featuring singles too that the artist can sell. All you need is a paypal account and a cool track you wish to sell over the Internet.
This will be covered in the Classic Label Listings in the near future. So be sure to keep an eye out for more details.

Very good. Yes. I am interested
Singles sound great! I definitely feel like I could get that together. I have been wanting to do it for the longest time. I need to get the music out there.
This sounds way more realistic to me right now than putting out a CD.. more duable.. this is a great idea ( as usual ).
Take care Vit3ss3

I think this is probably the case for a quite a few musicians; they have some really top-notch work, but as of yet not got tracks to fill an album. So in a way it will help bring interest to those artists.
I am going to have to think of a price for the singles. It looks like the price of the Virtual Albums are going to go up too.
I have written to the artists to see how they feel about increasing the price to better reflect the shear quantity and quality of their work, but even that is going to be too low imo. We will see.
What do you think a single should go for as a virtual download?

Spe3d

Well.. I actually had written it earlier in my post and took it out. I thought maybe it was not my place to suggest in this case..
1 download: 65 cents, with an option to donate more if someone wants to.
I think a self produced Cd with 12 tracks on it should be $9-$10 at the most. But that's just me..
15-16 tracks: $12.00 tops.
We're talking independent here...
$7-$10 is what I pay for independent/underground CD's made in the San Francisco bay area ( lot's of local artists here ). I have never been charged more than $10, and that includes a physical CD with the artwork, and all that.. A Cd costs what.. $1.20 to make?
The price of 1 self made Cd here tends to vary between $7-$10..
With a downloadable product, I would charge a bit less than a physical CD, which is why I voted for $9.00 in your survey. I would charge $10.00 for a physical CD.
Again, with an option for the buyer to donate as much as he/she pleases.
This is again a very promising entreprise that you have going here.. congrats..

Thanks Pheeleep,
That post helps quite a bit on the pricing. Though the singles price is a bit low. I will need to give some thought about that.
