Trance Synth Sound Enquiry

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone knows what the effect is on the synth pad in the below track that starts at 3m5s? Is it some kind of filter or special affect that gives the pad that unique phasing sound? I am a fan of Mat Silver Vs Tony Burt remixes and i noticed they used this kind of pad sound and effect in the breakdowns of several of their remixes.



I am a novice when it comes to sound design so apologies if i have given the wrong terminology.

I could be wrong but I think it's just the filter opening when new chords come in and closing down a bit
