I seriously don't mean any offense, but how could a preset on a channel strip be useful? I've tracked and mixed dozens of records over the last four decades. I've never once used a preset on a channel strip. Every source audio needs whatever it needs. There is no setting that will work on all sources, even in the same type. ie. Not every kick drum will need a cut at 300 and a boost at 60. Some of the ones I mixed need cuts at different frequencies. I'm not trying to toss you under the buss. I just can't see how presets would ever be used in an EQ or channel strip.
I know early on, I wished for presets, because I didn't understand what all the controls did. Just spend time and play with the extremes of each EQ band and the compressor and you will then have a better idea of what it really needs and you won't have to guess. I've been there.

here's why: I've been mixing for around 20 years and almost never used any presets ( even when i did it always ended up completely different ) . But recently I started messing around with presets for inspiration when I compose / write my own stuff, and as a starting point when mixing. Even thou every time I find a preset, it ends up completely tweaked and different from how it was. I realized that it helps my workflow, and sometimes I learn something new from a certain preset.trmupstage wrote: Wed Mar 12, 2025 4:10 pm I seriously don't mean any offense, but how could a preset on a channel strip be useful?
