How different are bus compressors in SSL consoles ? Especially E vs G.
Also there are many plugin emulations of G bus compressor, but not a single one of E bus compressor

From what I recall reading, the biggest differences are in the EQs not the compressors. Plus, it depends on which G and which E were modeled (there was overlap where they were supposedly the same compressor). In general, the G is probably going to be more modern/clean/fast and the E less so. But probably nothing dramatic.
I use G.

AFAIK basic circuit has not changed from as early as B series. Although, over time different VCAs were used and parts should have been changed due to availability etc. That said, some people (notably Andy Wallace) say that the compressor feels different in Js and later consoles than the one in E/G. But it's still has to be a very similar if not identical circuit.TS-12 wrote: Wed Mar 12, 2025 5:25 pm How different are bus compressors in SSL consoles ? Especially E vs G.
